Is Quinn Ewers' star fading as Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward rise to the top?

With College GameDay in Austin, Texas, everyone from Nick Saban to Pat McAfee predicted the Texas Longhorns to win against Georgia. However, the Bulldogs made a firm statement on Saturday after a 30-15 win over No. 1 ranked Texas. Texas fell to 5th rank on the AP poll after that loss. Not only that, but their star quarterback, Quinn Ewers, for whom we have all been waiting for quite some time now while he was out because of an injury, did not play up to the mark. Injury, replaced by Arch Manning, and then benched by Arch Manning- expectedly, Ewers’ stock has taken a hit.

PFF College, from their official Instagram account, posted a picture of the top two QBs who are leading the race to be top QBs in the 2025 NFL Draft. “Shedeur Sanders & Cam Ward are in a tier of their own,” they wrote as a caption for the picture of Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward. Moreover, they highlighted the text on it, saying, “Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are currently the clear top QBs in the 2025 class.”

Shedeur Sanders is making waves in college football as the Buffs sit at 5-2 overall. But the best thing is that Shedeur has completed 72.2% for 2268 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, with just six interceptions. Not only did PFF declare him the top QB, but he is also ranked high for the 2025 NFL draft as well.

Another top PFF QB is Cam Ward, who even holds Heisman’s chances given his impressive performance, especially when Miami took down Louisville on Saturday. He got some cool numbers with 319 yards and four touchdowns while also completing 21 of 32 passes. He showcased a great play with a 22-yard run as well during the game against Louisville. But what happened to Steve Sarkisian’s star boy Quinn Ewers, who was the talk of the town even when he was injured?

Although Steve Sarkisian named Arch Manning as the starting QB for the game against Georgia, he confirmed that it isn’t any kind of QB battle. He even said, “Quinn is our starting quarterback. I appreciate the fact that we’re fortunate enough to have a backup like Arch that can come into the game and provide a spark in some sense, but at the end of the day, Quinn is our starter,” Sarkisian highlighted.

Ewers began the game in full form; he faced struggles shortly after. Especially facing Georgia’s pass rush, Ewers was clueless on six of his 16 dropbacks, which resulted in 0-for-2 on those plays and he was also sacked three times and completed 6-of-12 passes for 17 yards and an interception before he was benched.

Sarkisian thought of giving him a break before the renters into the second half. “Eyes weren’t where they needed to be,” Sarkisian said. Ewers didn’t even know that before halftime he was going to be in the second half. Overall, HE completed 25-of-43 passes for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Sure, he had a better second half, but brother, you’re playing for the No. 1 team, and there is a Manning waiting on the sidelines to take over. The top QBs performed when the lights were the brightest, and the 21-year-old Quinn Ewers failed to grab the eyeballs.
