Who could be more significant to a football club than a fan? We acknowledge that coaches and players play important roles, but what would a contest mean without spectators or a crowd? Completely pointless. When a team has supporters like Miss Peggy, who is 100 years old, it becomes even more significant. Since the 1940s, she has been going to Colorado games. The head coach realized his squad needed her to be present on Saturday, as they were prepared to go to their bowl game for the very first time since 2020. “The greatest Buff of all time. Let’s give it up for Miss Peggy.” This was the Buffs fans’ slogan for the team in honor of Miss Peggy on Thursday. However, concern has now been raised about this valuable superfan of the Buffs since she disclosed a health issue prior to the Alamo Bowl.

Hearing about Miss Peggy’s health issue is quite distressing for the Colorado Buffaloes, even though it may be normal given her age. Deion Sanders flew Miss Peggy to San Antonio so she could experience it all. Now, it seems the experience can be hampered due to that health issue. But what is the issue? Before the Alamo Bowl, Colorado Football has been posting footage of Ms. Peggy’s most wholesome moments while enjoying the complete VIP experience in San Antonio by hanging out with Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders. As per that video clip of Buffs’ IG post, Miss Peggy stated, “I think I’m doing okay, my eyesight’s not good, though, so you got to get up pretty close and tell me who you are, because I can’t recognize anybody”, to Sanders asking how she was feeling.

You might assume that this problem will prevent her from attending the Colorado vs. BYU game. No, you are completely mistaken. Nothing will prevent her from presenting at the Buffs game. Safe to say, having black and gold flowing through Peggy Coppom’s veins isn’t hyperbole. She is deeply ingrained in the Buffs’ history and culture. This is completely acknowledged by the school and its stakeholders. The Buffs have frequently returned Peggy’s unwavering affection. Thanks to Deion Sanders, they now have greater material resources to return the favor.

Yes, Deion Sanders has shown to be therapeutic to her before the most important bowl game. However, why is it important? Well, because it would be Colorado’s first bowl victory since 2004 if he could lead the Buffs to one more victory over BYU on Saturday. The primary concern, though, is Miss Peggy’s treatment as a VIP.

Coach Prime treating Miss Peggy like a VIP

Deion is going above and above in making sure Miss Peggy attends the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. The former NFL cornerback and MLB outfielder made two promises to Peggy earlier in the season. The first was to qualify for the Bowl in four years. And second, he promised to arrange for her to be flown to the location of the game. In a private aircraft, no less! And to the credit of the Buffs and their head coach, he has fulfilled his pledge.

Does Miss Peggy's story prove that fans are the true heart of any sports team?

Have an interesting take?

Images of Miss Peggy and her family traveling to their chartered aircraft went viral on social media earlier today. She seemed to be reaping the rewards of all those years of suffering while cheering for the Buffs. Hopefully, there is no need for Miss Peggy and her family to be concerned about anything. For comparison, a standard charter for four people to travel between the two cities can cost up to $15,700. You could argue that it was a pocket change for Deion Sanders. However, it’s a kind gesture that he didn’t necessarily have to do.
