Did Matt Rhule cross the line with his antics against Shedeur Sanders? What's your take?

‘Coach Prime’ has given new heights to the Colorado program with his unique coaching style. After taking charge as Colorado’s head coach, he has made many changes on the coaching side and in roasters. One recruit he brought in was his son and quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, who shares a strong bond with his dad. With that said, let us take you back to a major stint between Shedeur Sanders and Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule, who made “extreme disrespect” to the Buffs, according to Shedeur Sanders.

What happened a year ago before the playoff between Nebraska and Colorado? Right before the game, Rhule gathered his team at midfield, and the Nebraska team, along with Matt Rhule, were standing on the Colorado logo, which did not go well with Shedeur Sanders, and he told them about it. “I went in there and disrupted,” said Sanders while talking about the incident to the media.

He narrated the whole incident by saying, “It was personal. We go out there to warm up; you got the head coach from the other team trying to stand in the middle of the buff. It’s ok if a couple of players do it, but when you get the whole team trying to disrespect it, then I’m not going for that at all.” Shedeur Sanders further explained that Colorado Buffaloes mean a lot to him, and that’s why he felt disrespected.

In response to that, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule answered by saying, “We do it at every stadium. I asked Shedeur if he wanted to pray with us. We just take a moment as a team. I want that field to be safe for everybody.” Rhule clarified his side of the story, stating that Shedeur just misunderstood while they were just praying before the game. On top of that, Shedeur told the reporters that Rhule also made some remarks about his dad, which he did not like.

After Colorado’s statement home game wins against Nebraska in the 2023 season, Shedeur Sanders recalled Matt Rhule’s comments on his dad. He added that Rhule’s comments provided fuel to the team and worked as motivation for them. “The coach said a lot of things about my pops and the program, but now he wants to act nice,” Sanders said during his post-game intersection with reporters. He said, “I don’t respect that because you hated on another man. You shouldn’t do that. It was just that all respect was gone for them and their program. I enjoy playing against their defensive coordinator, but the respect level ain’t there because Rhule disrespected us first.” Sanders was talking about Rhule’s comments, in which he didn’t mention Buffs, but it looked like he was pointing at them.

Let’s look at Rhule’s comments, which read, “If you notice in our videos that we post and I’m proud to post those, they’re always of us working. They’re never of us talking. This program is built on work. It’s not built on hype.” According to Shedeur Sanders, Rhule was referring to ‘Prime Time’ when he used the word ‘hype’. Besides that, let us know in the comments who you are rooting for this season. Is it the the Buffs?
