Is Deion Sanders' new locker room a sign of his long-term commitment to Colorado?

“I don’t think Deion Sanders will be there next year,” speculated sports commentator Paul Finebaum last month setting fire to the college football landscape. After taking University of Colorado’s dilapidated football programme—the team ended with a 1-11 record the year before Coach Prime’s arrival—to new heights, it looks like CU is leaving no stones unturned to compensate for Sanders’ services and possibly ensure a future with him in it. And their latest gold-plated move has got fans absolutely convinced that Finebaum might have been wrong after all…

Deion’s house is often known for its palatial size and the mansion’s amenities, like a wine cellar, workout room, indoor movie theater, and an outdoor pool. Well, sadly in the Buffs camp, he could not enjoy these experiences. However, Coach Prime never really complained. But it seems like Deion lately had a small request for the Buffs officials, which they made possible. No, it has got nothing to do with entertainment. Instead, Deion had requested a personal locker. And guess what? The results were way beyond Coach Prime’s expectations as Rivals.com posted the video with the caption, “I think it’s safe to say Coach Prime ain’t leaving Colorado anytime soon 🤣🔥”

As Deion walked into the room which came as a gift, he was just as smitten as a kid walking into a candy store.“I can see it already…God is so good, WOOOOW!” blurted out the HC out of excitement. The walls had the iconic quotes by the Buffs HC printed like, “YOU LOOK GOOD YOU FEEL GOOD YOU FEEL GOOD YOU PLAY GOOD YOU PLAY GOOD THEY PAY GOOD.” Also to make it look more customized the room has his signature imprinted on the wall.

Plus, to keep his belongings organized and safe, they even made a drawer guarded by a glass door. The seats have been cushioned to provide Deion with much-needed comfort after a hectic day and also have “Prime” stickers on the foot in the classic black and gold theme. He has been truly touched by Colorado’s heartfelt move as he promised, “This is gotta win locker room…I will bring it to the crew.” Being a gentleman, Deion also had a drawer with “SMITTY” written over it, which will belong to Micheal Smith, the head of equipment at the Buffs.

Safe to say, fans were thrilled and having a field day putting all rumors to rest. While one person was happy to dispel the rumors writing, “people who think he is still leaving colorado your either clueless or blind as hell…he has said thousands of times he aint leaving boulder….he has said boulder is a second home for him and now you see this…yeah haters are in shambles,” another fan commented on the original post uploaded by Colorado Football’s official Instagram page, “The “he’s leaving next year” crowd is gettin real quiet lately😂”

Most importantly, even SHIELD Lockers themselves commented on Rivals.com’s post making a solid statement about Sanders’ future, “Getting to build for @deionsanders has been EVERYTHING 😍 Hopefully this helps put the rumors to rest 😉”

Have an interesting take?

Notably, this comes as a part of a collaborative effort between the University of Colorado, Deion Sanders and Kansas-based athletic lockers firm SHIELD Lockers. As per an official press release, “Shield worked collaboratively with the Buffaloes to deliver a truly unique locker for Coach Prime and Head of Equipment Michael “Smitty” Smith. Features include integrated power and lighting, inductive charging, backlit signature and quote panel, bench with custom stitched cushions and soft-close lower drawer, chaise lounge, direct-print logos, and a wardrobe cabinet with felt-lined jewelry display drawer and backlit shoe cubbies.

This is the fourth collaboration between Shield Lockers and The University of Colorado. Previously Shield manufactured lockers for volleyball, men’s basketball, and women’s soccer.”

But amid all this what does Prime Time say about his own future? Well…

Rumors on Deion Sanders’ next stop cut short by Coach Prime himself

Now that Shedeur will be soon away to the NFL, conversations said that Deion had already kept his one foot away from the Buffs camp. Not only his QB son, but his other son Shilo along with the Buffs dual-threat and the HC’s “second son” Travis Hunter will be boarding the NFL wagon. In that case, Deion would have an empty nest to return to.

As talks started to do rounds, the ESPN analyst, Paul Finebaum, who isn’t much fond of the CU head coach, poured in with his opinion that Coach Prime would be the best match for USC Trojans replacing Lincoln Riley. “I think Deion Sanders as the coach at Southern Cal is the answer to the problems.” And somehow Coach Prime couldn’t accept the fact that someone was raising a finger at his commitment with the Buffs.

Deion Sanders thus took to X raining on all the rumors stating, “I’m going to leave when my kids leave, that’s the dumbest thing ever.” If the Buffs HC is now in a position to make his own wishlist, demanding a few things, means he’s more than just a guest in Buffs’ territory. After all, you don’t ask for gifts from anyone but family, right?
