Is Kyron Drones the underdog who could shake up college football's elite quarterbacks?

The Hokies situation is a weird one. Standing on a 3-3 run, Virginia Tech is in a rough spot. While their games against Vanderbilt and Rutgers left much to be desired, against Hurricanes and Stanford, they showed who’s the real boss. And in the center of it all is Hokies QB Kyron Drones. This guy is on a whole other level. Often marked as the one who can bring down Cam Ward’s empire of being the best, it looks like all of that has to wait for now.

On the latest episode of Well Off Media, Darrell Colbert talks about an interesting situation in which Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward have found themselves. “They owe Kyron an apology,” Colbert mentioned. Now why is that you might ask? “Never throw across your body, unless you are Kyron Drones” This is something that has been doing rounds on the internet recently after Drones managed to hit a cross-body touchdown throw during the Hurricanes game.

It was the 4th quarter of the game and Drones was straight on point with his throw. However, later in the game, Cam Ward got the same thing done. Shedeur Sanders, on the other hand, has managed to achieve the same feat during the UCF game with a cross-body throw to Travis Hunter toward the 40-yard line.

So, in classic CFB fashion, another record was broken. Shedeur and Ward owe Drones an apology for breaking his record of maintaining dominance over cross-body throws. This brings us back to the initial statement we made. The Hokies are in a weird spot. Despite having access to a QB like Drones, it is sad to see how far they have fallen on the list.

Coming off of the strong Stanford game, it still feels like HC Brent Pry needs to put in a heck ton of effort if he wants his team to end up in the Bowl games. However, despite what fate awaits the team, another important question that arises from the entire Drones situation is whether he would become a major problem for Shedeur and Ward during the drafts.

Can Kyrone Drones spoil the 2025 drafts?

The Miami game is the perfect example of how good Drones are when it comes to making last-minute decisions. His Hail Mary almost turned things around for the Hokies and we would’ve seen one of the most feared teams this year (Hurricanes) being dethroned. However, the entire controversial touchdown reversal sealed the deal for the Hokies and they had to return home with a 38-34 loss.

Kyron managed to flip Ward’s entire world around. A dude who is marked to be on the No.1 spot on the Heisman ladder was seen struggling against someone who has around 15000+ odds. If Deion Sanders and his boys ever end up going against the Hokies, the same fate could follow them as well. Call it a bad omen or something else, but the Hokies could’ve been doing much better this year. Let’s hope they manage to switch things around.
