The Buffaloes are riding out a wave of a new era as they continue to rake in win after win. Their massive victory against the Baylor Bears marked their 3rd win out of a total of 4 games and it looks like this is a whole different team as compared to the 2023 CU roster. After a tremendous performance more notably at the hands of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, the team is showing off great potential for this season, but with every high, comes a definite low. And that low came in the form of an injury-riddled Jace Feely, who will most likely not show up on the gridiron for the rest of the season.

The Buffs’ kicking specialist Jace Feely took to X to announce that he “fully tore” his ACL during the game against Baylor. His tweet read, “Fully tore my acl. Thanks for all the prayers! Gods got a plan I’m not worried. Everything is for a reason. “For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”” Isaiah 41:13 ESV Can’t wait to start attacking this rehab! #SkoBuffs”

During the post-game celebration within the Buffs’ locker room, Deion was heard stopping his players midway and remarking how unfortunate it was to lose out Feely for the rest of the season. He said, “Okay, we praying for Jace.” After Jace was escorted off the field, Cristiano Palazzo was brought in to substitute him for the rest of the game and will probably be the starting kicker against the UCF Knights as well. Now that Feely is supposedly down for the count, here’s a look at the journey he’s had so far since joining the program in Boulder.

Jace Feely’s journey with the Colorado Buffaloes

Back in 2023, it was announced that Jace Feely of the Arizona State Devils would be joining the revolution of Coach Prime as a kicker for the Buffs. Deion found a perfect replacement for Cole Becker in the form of Feely and proved his worth when he was able to nail 65-yard kicks at Folsom Field during the pregame warm-ups in 2022. Moreover, seeing as how he’s the son of NFL veteran, Jay Feely, instilled within him were the kicking genes as well, adding more to the overall betterment of the Colorado team.

When asked about what prompted his decision to come to Boulder, Feely had said, “One of the first things I gathered talking to Prime and the coaches was that they really care about their guys and they care about way more than football.” These deductions of Feely hit the bullseye since Deion prioritizes the love for the game over everything else and thus, the kicker became a right fit for the program. Though his season-threatening injury may put him out for the rest of the season, he will be missed dearly by the fans for his skills and the zeal he brought to the team as well as the field. Heart aching news for the Buffaloes, but surely the youngster will come back and stronger soon as the Buffs continue to play united as a tribute to him.
