Is Deion Sanders the best thing to happen to Colorado football in decades? Alumni seem to think so!

And it’s all about the Buffs, yet again. Maybe Paul Finebaum wasn’t thinking straight when he called Deion Sanders and the Buffs “irrelevant” in the world of CFB. Cause after what the boys managed to pull during the Rocky Mountain Showdown and against Baylor, it’s safe to say that Deion Sanders and his team still got it. Starting the season off a little rough, the Huskers game gave Deion the perfect reality check. Coach Prime took it and converted it into a spectacle. So, naturally, he is now reaping the fruits of his labor.

Word on the street is that the UCF game would mark the ‘biggest recruiting weekend’ for the Buffs. And CU Alum Matt McChesney agrees with it. On the September 28th episode of Zero 2 Sixty, Matt notes while talking about Buffs’ recruiting weekend, “Which they are… Now look, I was talking with a recruit about sending me his clips to get posted… He goes… ‘I’m going to the UCF game tomorrow to watch Colorado’.'” While Matt doesn’t name the player, it was apparently one of the No.1 OLs from the IMG Academy. Buffs have got a lot of players on its roster who are from Florida. So, this is somewhat of a home game for Deion Sanders and his boys.

And that would be the biggest catch. While everybody would be ready for the moment, grabbing a win against UCF would be important. This time around, it ain’t about the rivalry or anything. It’s about sentiment. If Deion Sanders wants to make his overall recruitment even stronger, he will have to show the Knights who’s the boss. After the Baylor game, we already got news that 3 top 4-star recruits wanted to change ships and join Coach Prime.

Josh Newberg from On3 noted, “I don’t know how fast things are going to transpire here with Colorado recruiting, but the buzz around last night’s win is palpable.” Now imagine what would happen if the boys managed to win against one of the top run-game teams in the CFB. From what we have seen so far, the Buffs tend to be the slow starter. The game generally picks up from the 2nd quarter. However, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have to lock in early on this time.

The entire offensive line has to ensure that Shedeur gets the proper pocket and chance to make plays because the Knights will not be making it easy. Against Rams and Baylor, the O-line had shown considerable improvement, but they still ain’t on the level on which Shedeur or Hunter play. However, the biggest factor that would tip the scales would be the defensive line and how they handle the rushes.

If you gonna talk the talk, you better walk the walk

Top run and rush game. Do not take this lightly. 3-0 heading into week 5 and the entire roster is filled with veterans who know the game. The main challenge would be the Knights QB KJ Jefferson and RB RJ Harvey. Jefferson and his pinpoint accuracy are what make him so lethal. And for Harvey? Well, this guy is currently standing on the top of Big 12 with 448 rushing yards and 8 TDs.

Have an interesting take?

So, all in all, Coach Prime’s D-line has to step up. By now we know that Robert Livingstone, Buffs’ defense coordinator, has done major work on the defensive line. So much so that Deion’s team stands neck to neck with a top defensive team like Nebraska. Allowing barely 30 points in all of their games this season, the Buffs D-line has shown massive changes from what the people are used to.

This factor would come in the clutch to stop the Knights’s run game. You gotta keep in mind that the longer the Knights have possession of the football, the harder it will be for the Buffs to win this. However, there’s one silver lining to all of this. Chidozie Nwankwo is probably back. Deion had noted that Nwankwo was doing much better now and could show up against UCF. Having the ‘block bully’ on the turf would give Deion free real estate over a controlled run game. Let’s hope the Buffs manage to pull out of this one.
