Indiana’s getting humbled by Notre Dame, down 3-20 in the third quarter, and Curt Cignetti’s bold pre-game talk isn’t aging well. He pumped up his team, confidently asserting they were prepared to defeat the Irish, but now it appears to be a sobering wake-up call. Spectators are witnessing the Hoosiers’ defense being dismantled, and the bold pre-game rhetoric now seems devoid of substance. Guess the gap between confidence and performance is wide after all.

Looks like Curt Cignetti walked right into that. Just before their actual showdown coach Cignetti on ESPN’ college game day show said, “Look there’s a lot of skeptics, a lot of doubters, I get it, right? Hadn’t beaten a top-25 team. Nebraska was 25th in the coaches poll and we beat their asses 56-7, you know, and I’ve never beaten a top-25 team, well Coastal Carolina, back when we were little James Madison moving up to the Sun Belt… beat them 47-7, so we don’t just beat top-25 teams, we beat the shit out of them.” But it’s the opposite happening altogether.

See, actions speak louder than words, and Curt Cignetti’s words are not at all justifying Indiana’s game against Notre Dame, this fan took a straightaway dig over the fact that his bold claims are just empty words, saying, “Curt Cignetti, at the end of the day, is trying to be something he’s not. I genuinely think he’s not this guy he tries to be. And it’s made me hate him more than anyone I’ve ever watched. I should be rooting for the conference. Yet I’m here hoping they lose by 95+. All the best, BK.

We understand the urge to shut the trolls coming all the way against the team’s easy schedule, resulting in their position in the league, but the timings, man, were quite off. Moreover, the teams Curt Cignetti is talking about, Nebraska and Coastal Carolina, were not the teams ranking in the top 25 list of the AP poll, and facts are evident to prove that Indiana did have an advantage of a weaker schedule.

Plus, when they actually had a chance to win against their only ranked opponent, Ohio State, they blew it up very nicely. Many analysts predicted that this was going to happen, and no wonder that turned out to be their harsh reality. And now against Notre Dame, the same things are happening. Isn’t it enough to make fans furious about Curt Cignetti’s bold remarks, which are not making it to the actual field?

No wonder this was going to happen. See, Indiana Hoosiers’ success this season is one of their biggest victories, and then entering a playoff qualifying matchup is something no one has ever imagined, and it’s all because of the new wave of change Curt Cignetti brought into the team, but the only time he took some pride over it messed up everything for him. The Hoosiers are trailing behind Notre Dame with 14 points in the second quarter, and fans are clearly not happy with this as they say, “We as they say, wanted a good game, but Curt Cignetti being embarrassed is a good consolation prize.” It’s like fans were in for a nail-biter game, but nah, Cignetti got absolutely slapped back to reality by Notre Dame. Classic.

Moreover, Notre Dame’s raging defense is not a surprise for Indiana, but even their offense taking a ride against the Hoosiers is the most disappointing thing of this game. Even Coach Curt Cignetti himself understands the shortcomings, but what’s the use? The game is slipping out of their hands, and even fans can see it. During the quarter break, Curt Cignetti tells ESPN’s Katie George that his defense has to fit the right gaps and make tackles to turn things around. #”Itufb” looks like Indiana’s playoff dreams are almost shattered.”Fans are like, Welcome to reality, Curt Cignetti.

The game is yet to reach halftime, but fans are out there making Curt Cignetti’s halftime speech predictions, saying, “Curt Cignetti’s halftime speech: “Don’t worry, men, Notre Dame sucks.” Like what even? Let’s ignore the fact that their defense and offense are both getting shredded, but the hope that the football gods will have mercy might be a classic underdog mentality, as fans claims.

But you can’t ignore the fact that Indiana is at 11-1 this season, and with or without an easy schedule, that team made it to the playoffs, and what’s wrong with taking pride? But this X user can’t resist the fact that Curt Cignetti was confident about the game, as he says, “When Curt Cignetti said to Google him, he meant regular season non-big games only.” Coach Cignetti does win, and the game is not over yet, so the Hoosiers might make a comeback and prove their capabilities.
