Is Ashton Jeanty truly Heisman-worthy, or just benefiting from an easy schedule and role?

Do you think Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty is worthy of all the Heisman hype he’s getting? After the Boise State Broncos’ last victory against Nevada, the 20-year-old junior has recorded 190 carries for 1,525 yards and 20 touchdowns to lead the Heisman race. Still, fans think that his role is making it easy for him to gain this sudden surge in popularity.

On November 10, House of Highlights uploaded a post of Ashton Jeanty in the last Boise State vs Nevada game. The Heisman favorite RB recorded 210 yards on 34 rushes and three touchdowns in their 28-21 win against the Wolf Pack. Adding a highlight of his big plays in the second slide, the caption reads, “Jeanty continues to make his Heisman case 👀” But not every fan is impressed with what Jeanty is bringing to the table. A user wrote, “210 yards off 34 touches???? Not trynna hate but that don’t seem too good 💀

Both Boise State and Nevada put up quite a fight going 14-14 at halftime. But the Broncos delivered in the second half adding 14 more points on their play to victory. After Jeanty’s performance on Saturday, he now trails second in the FBS all-time list for most rushing yards behind NFL legend Barry Sanders, whose record is 2,628 yards and 37 touchdowns for the Oklahoma State Cowboys in 1988.

But aside from the not-good-enough label, we can’t deny that Jeanty has transformed Boise State this season leading them to an 8-1 record. They also secured the No. 12 spot in the first playoff rankings in 2024. The Broncos rank third in the nation averaging 257.3 rushing yards per game. Still, fans aren’t convinced he’s worthy of the Heisman Trophy.

Fans are unimpressed with Ashton Jeanty’s performance

Despite the 200+ yards, fans are unconvinced. One person voiced the crowd’s opinion saying, “He carried the football almost 40 times calm down.” Is it easy to gain 200 yards on 34 carries?

Hear it from this user who critically judged the situation. They wrote, “Against Nevada? lol not that impressive lol.” Nevada is currently one of the worst-performing teams in the Mountain West with a 3-8 record.

And not surprisingly, we see another Heisman contender getting dragged into the conversation. A person commented, “Not even close to what Travis Hunter is doing.” This season, the Buffs two-way star has made a big name for himself averaging more than 110 snaps per game through Week 10 on both offense and defense.

The next person echoes the same thoughts. They wrote, “Give Travis the same touches.” If Travis Hunter was touching the football an average of 34 times per game, imagine the stats he would be holding now! Is it really Ashton Jeanty’s RB role that’s giving him more chances to make plays and lead the Heisman race? Let us know your thoughts.
