Can the Longhorns maintain their momentum and clinch the SEC title, or will they stumble?

College football rankings are rolling with new enticement each week. The more game nights we’re basking in, the more we are inching closer to the SEC title game. After a chaotic week 12, our top dogs are in the thick of the fight, gearing up for their upcoming challenges with extra grit and passion. Georgia, Florida Gators, The Colorado Buffaloes, SMU, and many more dominated the scoreboard with sharp weekend wins against the opponents while teams like LSU and BYU lost their momentum to some extent.

But amidst all who came and walked out with a smile in week 12, every team doesn’t have the same odds in their favor ahead in the conference battle. The winner among the winners seems to be the Longhorns as ‘SEC Mike’ Michael Bratton sees it.

Texas Longhorns lived up to their No. 3 rank in college football glory, mounting a high-flying 20-10 win against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Sarkisian didn’t get this easy at all. Horns had to sweat until the last bit to ensure their superiority over the Razorbacks. But, in whatever way, they did it. When the Hogs attempted a field goal in an attempt to even the scoreline, Quinn Ewers, Running Back Jaydon Blue, and Receiver Matthew Golden, returned the favor. Golden stole the spotlight with a couple of impressive touchdown grabs.

For the most controversial Ewers, marking it as a personal comeback game would be a little exaggeration, but it’s safe to say he was decent. Well, it’s not only the players’ precision and talent that is paving the way for the Longhorns, they got some serious help from the other teams’ standing as well. Except for ULM’s dropping fourth straight to the Tigers, there is no hitch for the Longhorns concerning their schedule strength.

Colorado’s continuing domination added value to the Longhorns’ past win against the Buffs while Georgia ruling it over the Volts proved they are quite a team to be heated. Again, less penalty for the Horns’ Week 7 defeat. Both UTSA and Florida moved up to the .500 rank, enhancing Texas’ respective wins in the past weeks. If they can get the upper hand against the highly hyped-up lone-state rivalry, it would be an extra flex as the Aggies, too, are .500 now after a blowout win over Mexico State.

Alabama narrowly seated with two favors, including the Georgia and USF’s landslide victories. The Aggies are the real snake-bitten here. They got every outcome in their hinder despite getting the job done against the Mexico State.

Steve Sarkisian speaks highly of his boys after a fantastic week 12 display

The No. 3 Longhorns are almost on their way to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Just the Kentucky Wildcats and the Texas A&M keep their fate hanging in balance. They were already on the odds-on favorites to lift the SEC trophy ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), now; they are also robust in the schedule strength. The logic is straight and simple. Win out, and they are in.

We have seen the Horns’ defense chiseling out their best in week 12 with an offense showcasing their capability to survive the tough ball game. ”It was just one of those days. They were going to make us earn it. We weren’t going to get many chunk plays. So we had to be really efficient. I thought that was a really efficient drive on the ground. Hit a couple of passes. Great catch by (Matthew) Golden for the touchdown.”, the HC said, acknowledging the collective good work on the offensive side of the ball.

All they need is to hold the pace for two more weeks and keep taking care of the business as they do. The schedule projection will do the rest. But even if they wouldn’t do it, Sarkisian would treat each of their wins the same. He doesn’t care where the opponents stand rank-wise and for the other parameters, all he knows is they have to beat the odds, going all and above.

Do you think Texas can make it to Atlanta after two more weeks?
