The third Saturday of October rivalry game ended with No. 7th Alabama falling 17-24 against No. 11th Tennessee. It looks like Kalen DeBoer‘s playoff hope is fading away with one after another blowout. First Vandy and now Tennessee. Till the first half, Bama fans were still hoping for a bounce back; however, Tennessee’s offense fell on Alabama like a lightning strike. One of its best moments was when Nico Iamaleava threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Chris Bradley II, which put the Vols ahead by four. As we know, AP poll rankings and college football games go hand in hand; that’s the reason Alabama is facing a direct fall after Saturday’s game.
IU sports media writer Josh Pos shared recent AP poll rankings in his ‘X’ post following week eight of college football games. “BREAKING: Indiana football jumps five spots to 13th in the most recent coaches poll, two spots ahead of Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama Crimson Tide,” he wrote. You’d be surprised to see how many underdogs have secured a place on that list. But first, you have to look at Crimson Tide’s pathetic condition.

We all remember Alabama once sitting in the No. 1 position after beating the Georgia Bulldogs. After that, they played a disappointing game against Vandy, and their ranking fell to 7th. So now, after facing Tennessee, they are currently in the 15th position! That can’t be true! Josh Pos shared a list of rankings from 10th to 15th, which are: Iowa State is in the 10th position, BYU is in the 11th, an IA independent team, Notre Dame, is in the 12th position, an underdog like Indiana is in the 13th position, Texas A&M secured the 14th spot, and as we know, Alabama is in the 15th.

Let’s look at the top five teams on the list. With that, a Big Ten team, Oregon, is on top with a 7-0 record. Georgia is in second place after securing a victory against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday. A second Big Ten team, Penn State, is ranked third on the AP poll rankings. Another Big Ten team among the top five is Ohio State, holding the fourth position, followed by the fifth-ranked Texas Longhorns even after losing to Georgia last Saturday. Apart from that, did you notice which teams jumped very high or low on these rankings?
Top movers on the AP top 25 besides Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama
Vanderbilt is a team that started a buzz after beating the then-top-ranked team, Alabama, in the fifth week of college football games. After that, they took down Kentucky in their next game. You know what? They have created history by being back on the AP poll’s top 25 rankings with no. 25th rank, first entry since 2013.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Alabama's reign over as they tumble down the rankings after shocking losses?
Have an interesting take?
Texas, as we know, is down 4 ranks after being at the top. But the good thing is they’re still in the top five and their playoff chances are still there. The next team is Indiana, which went 3 steps up after winning a game against the Cornhuskers. Next on the list is the Georgia Bulldogs, the team no one predicted would win against Texas on Saturday. Their rankings got impacted as they went up by 3.
Last but not least, there is Tennessee football, a team that went 4 points up on the AP poll after beating Alabama. Although they started slow in the first half, they moved quickly in the second half with quarterback Nico Iamaleava’s strong offensive play. With the current buzz of the latest AP poll rankings, these teams’ playoff hopes are also at stake.
