Woah! That’s what you call creativity. The NFL Draft is drawing near. So you need to raise your standards. Decommit from a program, hit the transfer portal, and visit other programs—the same old loop would not work in getting the NFL break. And this young chap is proving we need to oomph up and get more creative when it comes to putting ourselves out there. Can you imagine college football players propagating their skills just like someone scouting for a job change on LinkedIn? Yes, that’s how the Washington Huskies linebacker bid farewell to his team. And obviously, fans can no longer keep their calm.
Meet Drew Fowler, the Huskies LB who’s got a serious case of the creative bug. Back in 2019, Fowler chose to stay home and walk on with Washington. Well, last time the linebacker managed to get himself a spot in the Huskies squad after spurning scholarship offers from UCLA, Louisville, and others to play in the stadium he grew up in. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, Fowler was in Montlake for six seasons and has seen it all.
The 2021 season showed him the lows that came with a 4-8 season, while during the 2023 campaign, he got to witness the national championship. After that, HC Jedd Fisch arrived and gifted him a scholarship for his final year in 2024. During his career, Flower played 49 games and tallied 42 tackles. So did it spell an NFL future? Definitely not! Was Fowler aware of this? Definitely yes! So, now he needed to start looking for a job and chose to stand out of the crowd.

As the old NCAA commercials claimed, every student-athlete will be going pro in something other than sports. Fowler is the biggest example. Like any other player hitting the portal, he tweeted a graphic with the same old farewell message filled with gratitude: “Forever blessed to be a Dawg 4 Life 🐺💜.” However, the real catch was the graphics.
It had Fowler’s smiling picture in it with the “#OPENTOWORK” badge as we see on LinkedIn. In the beginning, he showed his gratitude for the coaches who have paved his athletic life. It was then he wrote in bold, “I’m officially declaring for the job market…I need a job.” But why would employers choose him?
It’s evident from the write-up that Fowler is making use of his Masters in Communication in Communities & Networks from Washington’s Foster School of Business. As the linebacker noted in his send-off, “My experiences as both a student and athlete have made me comfortable in high stress situations, and have influenced my ability to adapt readily to changing environments, and to push myself to be the best I can be.” He topped it up, claiming he’s also “gritty, hardworking” and “sneaky athletic,” as well as a “locker room guy” who “will bring my lunch pail to work.” Well, not sure about the NFL teams, but the fans are already impressed.
Fans campaign to get Drew Fowler noticed
Fowler did not announce that he’s entering the 2025 NFL Draft directly. He just created a resume so viral, it’s gonna blow up and land on every NFL scout’s desk. Maybe that was the plan. Even if it doesn’t reach the scouts, the fans will make sure that Fowler gets the right opening. At least the comment section of College Football On3 says so.
Now that Fowler has committed to the NFL Draft in the way of climbing the corporate ladder, a fan commented, “Watch he go 1st round in corporate America too 😂😂🔥🔥.”

Now, not everyone has the creativity to declare himself available for the draft. A lot of effort went into coming up with something unique and the courage to try something different. So, it’s evident how desperate Fowler is to board the NFL wagon, which touched a fan who pleaded, “Someone get this man a job!”
With skills like that, this linebacker might or might not be NFL-bound. But just in case, a fan had a hilarious suggestion for his next career move: “Tons of grit, gets his spreadsheets organized and done on time. I can see him getting drafted as a 1st round accountant.”
With his LinkedIn-style announcement, Fowler now stands as a great example for the other players to make themselves heard. Now that the Utah Utes quarterback Cameron Rising has yet to declare his availability, a fan had some advice for him, “Cam Rising take notes.”

To another fan, in case the player fails to become the first-round pick, no worries. He will definitely be the top pick in one of the Big 4, “1st round pick to KPMG.” Here’s hoping Drew Fowler finds reasons to uninstall the LinkedIn app soon!
