10 Jan 22 is the date that Kirby Smart and Georgia Bulldogs are going to remember for the longest time. While they hoped to change their fav date to September 28, they failed. After the CFB world had a magical Saturday evening, the analysts pounced on action to break down what went wrong for the Dawgs.
While Smart’s program is yet to recover from the 41-34 trauma, it’s time for Alabama to celebrate its heroes of the evening. They already had a star performer, their QB Jalen Milroe. Luckily, they now have another star in rising, a 17-year-old kid!
Jalen Milroe’s explosiveness was too much for Kirby Smart’s defense

Smart pinned all his hopes on Saturday’s game to win against Kalen DeBoer’s squad. After all, ever since he stepped in as the Georgia HC back in 2015, he has won only once. In recent years, the Dawgs lost five of the six games played between the two SEC powerhouses. Were Smart and Co. a bit too overconfident knowing that the GOAT Nick Saban is now away? Maybe or maybe not. However, what transpired was all of their hopes dashing. But what did go wrong? On The Players’ Lounge podcast, ex-Minnesota Vikings WR Tavarres King addressed the most glaring issue, “You gotta start fast. You can’t start slow.”
As DeBoer’s Bama blew a 28-0 lead, King went like, “We started very slow. You can’t spot any teams..28 points.” With this came Smart’s crew failing to stop Tide QB Jalen Milroe’s explosiveness right from the beginning. That’s something very new for Georgia. As King claimed, “I’ve never seen a Georgia team where balls are being caught underneath and there was nobody two to three yards.”
And how could Milroe just let go of that opportunity? The QB finished the game with almost 500 yards of total offense by himself. While he has been alarming enough, there’s another one who served them up a headache.
Ryan Williams’ added salt to Kirby Smart’s wounds

It’s very natural for Smart and the Dawgs to take someone as young as 17 years old lightly. But the freshman receiver came off as a total surprise package. Alabama’s Ryan Williams jumped up past the Dawgs’ DB Julian Humphrey and snagged the reception. Right after that, DeBoer’s new weapon cut back behind diving DB KJ Bolden picked up his speed, and went 75 yards for a score, gifting Tide with a 41-34 lead.
Smart waited with bated breath for Williams to fall under pressure. But poor Smart! The freshman hauled in the 75-yard touchdown pass from the Alabama QB Milroe when only a little over 2 minutes were left. Woah! That’s what you call destiny. After all, the Dawgs had chances to make Williams play against the Bama.

Post-game, Georgia HC Kirby Smart revealed, “We’ve known Ryan for a long time. He came to our place on several visits.” While this missed opportunity continues to prick him, the Bulldogs will not get over their QB Carson Beck completing only 47% of his passes that too for 100 yards, anytime soon.
