Did Joel Klatt cave to fan pressure by adding Kalani Sitake, or was it a justified choice?

There was a feeling that the traditional powers—the Bulldogs, Alabama, Wolverines, Sooners, and FSU—would all continue to be at the top of the game regardless of the format, even if we knew that the 12-team CFP would make the 2024 season slightly different at the end of the season. However, things haven’t always been that way. Although several surprising teams have pushed aside and replaced those rivals and their head coaches this season, the Tide and Dawgs are still fighting for a postseason spot. One of those unexpected teams’ head coaches was chosen for a great honor by a college football analyst, which forced him to face the supporters’ bullies.

Joel Klatt announced the college football Coach of the Year list on November 14. In the selection of one of the top coaches in the Big 12, he overlooked the coaches of the SEC. “My list for Coach of the Year candidates. No particular order” was the caption for Joel’s X post. Which depicted the names of the coaches, “Curt Cignetti @IndianaFootball, Deion Sanders @CUBuffsFootball, Kalani Sitaki @BYUfootball, Rhett Lashlee @SMUFB, Jeff Monken @ArmyWP_Football.” As you can see, SEC coaches like Kirby Smart, Josh Heupel, Lane Kiffin, and Kalen DeBoer are not on the list. But what made way was BYU former punter Jonny Linehan questioning why BYU HC Kalani was missing with a sarcastic comment!

Sitaki wasn’t on Joel’s list of candidates for Coach of the Year when he first announced them. However, he then made adjustments and added the head coach of the Cougars to the list. But the remaining coaches on the list of candidates have not changed.

Despite modest preseason projections, Buffs coach Deion, Hoosiers coach Cignetti, and SMU coach Rhett Lashlee—all three signal-callers—have their squads in the running for a postseason berth, as per Joel. But now, fans were incensed by his choice for the coach of the BYU Cougars, and they used social media to make fun of the CFB pundit.

How fans feel about CFB analyst’s pick

Have an interesting take?

Joel Klatt received criticism after he released his most recent College Football rankings. Fans couldn’t help but note that Klatt’s Top 10 list was missing an unbeaten program, even if the top teams (Oregon and Ohio State) were the same. After defeating the Utah Utes in Week 11, the BYU Cougars advanced to 9-0 on the season. Nevertheless, Klatt had them drop out of his Top 10 programs despite the win. Finally, he chose BYU’s head coach while selecting the Coach of the Year nominees, causing the supporters to make fun of the analyst. And “How much did it hurt to include Kalani?” asked a former BYU kicker. “We all know you didn’t wanna put Kalani there😂😂😂,” said another fan. It indicates the analyst’s top 10 CFP picks matter to fans.

In addition, supporters harass the head coach of BYU to expose Klatt’s partiality to Deion as the coach of the year’s selection. “I don’t care what you think about Deion. I don’t care what you think about their style or what they do on social media. The coaching job that Deion Sanders has done at Colorado is remarkable and he should be on a very short list this year for National Coach of the Year, period,” Klatt stated. If you don’t know, though, he is practically prepared to present the honor to Buffs coach Deion Sanders, who leads the team to a 7-2 record. However, there are currently a lot of college football teams that are unbeaten. “As Klatt had a vision that the undefeated BYU coach deserved a spot. Congrats, I know that pained you to admit it.” a furious fan wrote after this. As another fan put it, “Joel is being bullied to include Kalani.”

Fans are aware, meanwhile, that Joel’s choice of candidates is not all that poor in the end. For this reason, one fan wrote, “We bullied the man into including Kalani. I love it. ty, Joel.” It shows that supporters are happy with the selections. Currently, the primary focus is on the recipient of the award. At the end of this season, you will discover that. Therefore, be patient and observe the outcome.
