Does Colin Cowherd's inconsistency make you question his credibility as a sports analyst?

Shedeur Sanders, the star quarterback for the Colorado Buffs, is finally receiving the attention he deserves. Not only is the young player excelling for his team, but analysts are also touting him as a potential No. 1 NFL draft pick next year. A few days back, ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said he was “ready” to call Shedeur the top QB of the 2025 NFL draft. And now even Colin Cowherd feels the same. However, this reflected that his remarks lacked coherence, indicating a lack of consistency in his opinions. Shocking, right?

Today, Herd with Colin Cowherd took to X to share a recent conversation between media personality Colin Cowherd and Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt. During this segment, Colin claimed that he thinks Buffs star quarterback Shedeur Sanders to be a No. 1 NFL draft pick next year, saying, “It’s pretty obvious Shedeur Sanders is the No. 1 pick.” However, the reason that he gave came off quite offensive towards Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward. Also, Cowherd picking Shedeur over Cam raised a lot of questions on his previous remarks about him.

Interesting to see that Colin picked QB Shedeur Sanders over Cam Ward, but why? Well, in the above-mentioned segment, Colin said Cam Ward “feels small” He further compared him to Sanders and said, “I’ve fallen for this before. Shedeur Sanders same height, I never think about his height.” Now Joel Klatt was in disagreement straight off the bat as Colin made this claim. Further, pointing out the inconsistency of calling Cam short but not Shedeur, who is the same height. Joel Klatt even added to it, saying, “I just don’t think he’s separated like what you’re suggesting.” Now you know why Colin has been called out for his inconsistent behavior, and that was a real-time example of Colin Cowherd’s indecisive approach. Let’s discuss what he did with Shedeur.

Following Colorado’s defeat to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Colin Cowherd held a divergent perspective on Shedeur Sanders’ ranking for the upcoming NFL draft. Colin straightaway criticized him and his gameplay, saying, “It feels like they’re one big campaign to get Shedeur Sanders the Heisman or the No. 1 pick…It’s just a timeshare sales pitch, and I’m over it.” This hypocrisy quickly caught fans’ attention as they lashed out at Colin on his credibility.

Have an interesting take?

Now just imagine how weird that would have turned out when he shared an opinion that totally contradicts his past statements. An X user highlights the same thing, saying, I swear it wasn’t even a month ago Colin said he was out on Shedeur; now he has him as the #1 pick.” Another fan took a dig at Colin’s ranking skills, as a few days ago he called Nix “better than Brock” while ranking the quarterbacks on The Herd. “Colin says Bo Nix is better than Brock Purdy, so he has no credibility in evaluating QBs.” Well, this is going to be the most controversial fan reaction to Colin. This X user compared Cowherd’s inconsistent opinion with Kamala Harris’ current VP of the United States. That’s kind of unfiltered.

However, adding to the surprises, Colin took a jab at Cam, calling him too small while supporting Shedeur NFL draft odds. “Colin Cowherd is a Kamala Harris level flip flopper; 3 weeks ago he said Sheduer wasn’t a first round talent and Cam Ward should be the number 1 QB, and now Sheduer has separated from Cam and Cam is ‘too small’.” With all the recent remarks Colin Cowherd made on quarterbacks, there is no harm in saying that Colin’s arguments or opinions seem quite inconsistent and difficult to follow as they change as quickly as the seasons. Even this fan feels the same: “Colin Cowherd logic is like a slippery bar of soap.” It will be interesting to see if even after receiving such trolls Colin stays on what he said about Shedeur Sanders or not.
