Is Coach Prime's fame all hype, or does he genuinely have what it takes to lead Colorado?

The Buffaloes fall down to the ground, and the vultures come swooping. Everyone expected Coach Prime’s team to sail smoothly over the Nebraska Cornhuskers and redeem their faith in being a playoff contender. However, to witness a loss in such a brutal manner is something no Buffs fan saw coming. Now, the Buffaloes are being dragged through the mud for their poor performance, and leading the movement is obviously none other than ESPN’s Paul Finebaum. He’s plausibly one of the biggest Deion haters in college football, and after the loss against Nebraska, Finebaum looked pleased in bashing down their dreams of playoffs, even going so far as to predict a bumpy road to a Bowl game.

On the 8th September episode of the ‘ESPN College Football’, Paul Finebaum sat down with Matt Barrie and discussed the biggest takeaways from the huge Colorado upset at the hands of the Cornhuskers and what it means for the future of the team. As always, Finebaum had quite the straightforward sentiments to spew in the direction of the Buffaloes, a program he had earlier termed as “irrelevant” in the past.

Paul Finebaum usually has strong words to say for the Buffaloes, but this time, he took it up a notch when he said that they’re “wasting good air time” by talking about the program. He also added, “Are they a bowl team? I’m not even sure they are. I tried to do the math early this morning, and I mean, it’s possible, but it’s probably not likely. We’re wasting good air time I don’t mean you, but just on other shows I’ve done and you will do all week on whether or not a program in Boulder can possibly, in a tier 2 league, get to a bowl game which means absolutely nothing to a big name program in the age of the playoff.

Once again, Deion and his team are the victims of Finebaum’s scathing attacks. However, that shouldn’t mean anything to them if they plan to correct their flaws and still try their best to make it to the playoffs. And yet, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Finebaum also addressed Deion as a “narcissist” in the same interview, claiming that he won’t be in Boulder next season.

Paul Finebaum calls Deion a narcissist in a relentless attack

This war of words between Finebaum and Deion doesn’t seem to be coming to an end anytime soon, with each offensive play stronger than the last. Ever since Deion made his debut in 2023, Finebaum termed Deion a “celebrity coach” and is now plowing the snow deeper with more outrageous claims. In recent months, Finebaum called out the Colorado HC for not having enough patience to lead the team to a national championship and predicted the USC Trojans as his next destination.

Now, he’s taken it up a notch and called out Deion for being too self-obsessed and saying that he’s a great speaker but not too good of a coach. He said, “I mean, he’s a narcissist. I think he’s done good things no question but he’s still who he’s always been. He’s going to have a very difficult time. He’s going to struggle to get Stephen A, he’s going to struggle to get Shannon, these guys have better things to do right now than to waste a day in Boulder, Colorado. Enjoy the Deion show, it will be playing somewhere next year.”

Thus, Finebaum is being his usual self towards Deion and the Buffaloes. But it’s up to the head coach to try and drag his team out of this quicksand. It will only worsen in the upcoming few weeks if they don’t rake in wins soon.
