Can the CU Buffs bounce back after Jimmy Horn Jr.'s setback, or is their season doomed?

Well, Jimmy Horn Jr. truly deserves more recognition! Not every day is great for everyone, and that goes for the Buffs’ wide receiver too. Unfortunately, he had a moment this past Saturday that got the internet buzzing.

During the second half of their game against Nebraska, the Buffs faced some tough luck. Jimmy Horn Jr. had one of his catches wrongly ruled incomplete due to poor officiating. Many were left confused, wondering if they had seen it wrong or if the refs had made a mistake. Well, the silence has finally been broken by someone from the Buffs’ side.

Deion Sanders’ ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, quickly put on her Sherlock Holmes lens and came to Jimmy Horn Jr.’s defense. As a big Buffs fan and with her QB son playing for the team, she took to her X handle to voice her frustration. “Wow! With a toe clearly planted – ball under control and pulled into his body—that is a certified catch, dear refs! Horn caught that ball—it was a completed catch,” she wrote.

While there’s no way to undo that call, Coach Prime’s team unfortunately suffered a 28-10 loss to the Cornhuskers. Still, Jimmy Horn Jr. and Pilar’s son, Shedeur, managed to put on a solid performance.

And the highlight of the night was a long throw by Shedeur that found Jimmy Horn Jr., who swiftly wiggled it into the end zone. Horn also delivered a 61-yard return that pushed the Buffs into Nebraska territory. Despite the constant pressure from Nebraska’s defense, Jimmy Horn Jr. tried to shine. Well, there’s no denying the Cornhuskers too saw him as a threat before this big rivalry game.

It’s a do-or-die situation for the Nebraska Cornhuskers today. To put it simply, the Huskers hadn’t beaten the Buffs in nearly 5,000 days and were fired up to change that. And they did, putting up a solid 28 points. But this win didn’t come without careful planning and knowing their opponents well.

Deion Sanders’ ‘three-headed monsters’ were getting all the attention before the matchup. Of course, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter were two of them. And if you guessed the third was Jimmy Horn Jr., give yourself some brownie points! After all, his performance in Week 1 against North Dakota State was quite impressive to say so. With198 receiving yards and a touchdown that helped seal a 31-26 victory, it’s no exaggeration that Jimmy is a star. Even ESPN’s Greg McElroy warned opponents, likely the Cornhuskers: “Don’t sleep on this guy Jimmy Horn…he could take over the game.” And On3’s Andy Staples added to the same feels, saying, “If Nebraska focuses its attention on Travis Hunter, Jimmy Horn probably goes more than 67 and a half [receiver’s ratings].”

While Horn Jr. tried to shine, the Buffs’ offense struggled overall. Their first half averaged only 3.4 plays/drive and wasted a promising opportunity with downs and turnover. Well, let’s at least hope that Horn Jr. can show his full potential against Colorado State next week.
