Coach Prime's right—why aren't Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter getting the spotlight they deserve?

Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are not overrated. If you sit down and look through the season 2023 clips, you’ll see that Shedeur locked in over 25 TDs and ran for 3000+ yards. Not only that, he had a 72% completion rate, which was the 13th highest in the entire season. Hunter, on the other hand, shocked people as a WR and as a CB. During the season opener, that guy managed to hold 11 catches and marked his name as a star. So, Deion Sanders ain’t wrong when he hypes up those 2 guys on his team. Coach Prime knows that Shedeur and Travis are “THE” faces of CFB.

So, on BuffsTV on September 6th, Deion Sanders makes it very clear once again that people take Shedeur and Travis for granted. “You got a guy who threw for most yards in CFB, you got a guy who proved he is the most spectacular player….2 leading Heisman guys….but um is almost like no we can’t do that, um, their coach is Deion Sanders,” Deion Sanders mentioned. Just go back and take a look at the season opener against NDSU. Shedeur locked in over 400 yards on his first game of the season and you call this dude overrated? He also locked in 4 touchdowns and 1 interception and landed an accurate 69-yard throw to Jimmy Horn Jr. As Aaron Torres had pointed out, while talking about Shedeur and his overall performance as a QB, “If that is an overrated season, I think every QB in America would love to have that down season.”

Hunter, on the other hand, combined with Horn to reach a solid 330 yards during that game. The chemistry between Shedeur and Hunter was quite visible as they managed to follow the signal calls perfectly and matched each other’s speed. While it is true that he needs some polish as a CB, on the WR, Hunter is a beast when he is running with the football. Shedeur also showed us that he has changed. Ever since Deion brought over Pat Shurmur, Shedeur’s ability to anticipate tackles and survive in the pockets has improved drastically. However, while all of this is true and Deion and his boys have become the Jedi’s and have the high ground. There is still something Coach Prime needs to work on.

Could the offense and the defense be the downfall of Deion Sanders’ team again?

Oh, the O-line. Last season it was bad. The entire O-line failed to do that one job they were hired for and this led to Shedeur becoming the most sacked QB in 2023. However, this time around, while we did see Jordan Seaton and Tyler Brown give it their best, the rest of the dudes on the offensive line were average. And this is the weakness that Matt Rhule and Nebraska will look to exploit on Saturday.

The defense and offense are again becoming the main concerning areas for the Buffs. While Hunter and Shedeur are locked in, they cannot carry the team again. It’s high time that Deion figures something out and fixes this because the Cornhuskers will make sure they exploit this problem and bring the game to the midfield.
