Shelomi Sanders is well-settled in her new home! The basketball guard made waves this spring by entering the transfer portal and ditching her dad, Coach Prime, behind. While Deion Sanders and his sons remain with the Colorado Buffaloes, Shelomi decided it was time for a change.
Now, she’s thriving nicely with her new team at Alabama A&M. It seems Deion might be feeling the sting of her departure, as his daughter is now proudly representing her new team with a big smile.
On August 17th, Alabama A&M hosted a fan meet-and-greet event where athletes from all sports got to connect with their supporters. This event, held ahead of the 2024-25 athletic season, was mainly to boost team vibes and add a personal touch by letting fans “put a name with a face.” The event was a hit, and the team shared several photos from the day, captioned, “Catch Us Next Year For Fan Day! Let’s Get This Season Started. 🫡” Among the bright and happy faces was Shelomi Sanders, who later reposted the photos on her Instagram story.

Looks like it’s time for Coach Prime to revisit his words! Deion Sanders previously called her decision to leave Colorado “stupid,” saying, “I have been dictating where the kids go, not them dictating where I go.” Since her move to Alabama, Deion has remained tight-lipped about Shelomi’s achievements, likely still upset over her departure.

While her dad may be struggling with the situation, Shelomi recently opened up about why she left, shedding light on her decision to step away from certain bad vibes.
Shelomi Sanders got some good vibes
It’s been four months since Shelomi Sanders left the Colorado Buffaloes basketball team. While her strained relationship with her dad, Deion Sanders, became public, the actual reason for her departure remained a mystery—until now. In an Instagram live last week, Shelomi finally opened up about why she left. When Coach Freeman asked about her decision, she said, “It just wasn’t good energy, wasn’t good vibes, wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player… it was just bad. But I’m good now.” When pressed for more details, she chose not to say “nothing too bad” about the program.

Well, at Jackson State, she had some moments, like making a three-point shot in a November game. However, her time with the Buffaloes didn’t live up to expectations—she played just 11 minutes across five games all season. “I promise you I would have quit,” she said, reflecting on those days.
Now, with Alabama A&M, Shelomi regularly shares her practice sessions with her Instagram followers and seems thriving well. She’s even impressed her coaches with her skills! Ebi Ere called her a ‘workhorse,’ and Coach Dawn Thornton praised her athleticism and shooting skills, saying Shelomi is exactly what the team needed. It looks like Shelomi’s decision to step away from her dad’s program is finally paying off.
