The seat has always been hot for Florida State Seminoles HC Mike Norvell. After all, the man was held responsible for the program stooping so low. Norvell has served as head coach at Florida State since 2019. However, the 2024 season came off as the final nail to his HC role. So much so that his buyout figures started to do rounds. But in the end, the joke was on the haters, who looked forward to seeing Norvell take the exit gate. After all, the Seminoles failed to afford to fire Norvell. But so what? Fans have the biggest weapon in their hand, social media to troll the HC and his program.
Can you imagine it’s the same Seminoles who went undefeated in the 2023 season? Yes, Norvell’s boys went on a 13-0 winning streak, bagging the ACC Championship. And look at them now. In 2024, Norvell’s program became the first preseason top-10 team to start the season 0–3 and all the losses came from unranked opponents. This was not something that the Florida State fans were used to witnessing. After all, they had a storied history. Thanks to the legendary coach Bobby Bowden, who raised them to the pedestal. The legacy was later carried forward by Jimbo Fisher. So, the Seminoles got desperate to get rid of Norvell. However, an estimated $64 million in buyout money has been heavy on FSU’s pockets. So, as the HC continues to hold his seat, the CFB world has no other option than to oomph up their trolling game.

The Elite College Football page on Instagram came up with a roast for Norvell that’ll sting where it hurts most. The caption read, “Florida State had more inches of snow than wins this season!” Now that’s what you call creative trolling! The next slide had a collage showing a snap of a frozen Doak S. Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on the left and Norvell on the right. The caption on the collage is surely going to hit harder than the game loss. It read, “3 inches of snow in Tallahasse,” and “2 wins during the 2024 season.”
So they portrayed it in a way that even the weather performed well and kept up their standards. Sadly, Norvell and his boys could notch only two victories. One against LSU Tigers (45-24) and the other against Ole Miss Rebels (45-34). However, the HC has started to take baby steps to flip the narratives. He came up with a shakeup in the coaching roster. Plus, they have signed 20 prospects during the early signing period. They are the ones who are giving Sherrone Moore’s Michigan tough competition in the race to land edge rusher Zahir Mathis. But the fans had their blinds on and the number play was enough to trigger the fans who refused to hold back.

Mike Norvell falls prey to fans’ sarcasm and criticism
Well, the CFB world blamed Norvell for FSU’s downfall, and the HC kept himself safe from all the criticisms. Instead of taking accountability, he thought of passing it off to the other coaches. Back in November last year, the HC fired their OC Alex Atkins, DC Adam Fuller, and receivers coach Ron Dugans. Now that the snow has outperformed them, a fan thought of passing a sarcastic comment, “Don’t tell me they’re gonna sue the snow now (crying emoji).”
Coming off with only two wins in a season is definitely not going to get Norvell the praise crown. Plus, the fact that the FSU failed to arrange the hefty amount to get rid of the HC is humiliating. So a fan commented, “This gotta be the most embarrassing in g stat oat (laughing emojis).” Right now the Seminoles have filed a lawsuit against the ACC conference. They want more than the ACC can offer right now to compete with the Big Ten and SEC. Drawing a reference, a fan wrote, “Snow probably got a lawsuit pending now.”

Have an interesting take?
During the offseason, Norvell signed an eight-year extension worth $10 million per season. This amount was something that would have left the Seminoles with an empty hand. So, a fan thought of sprinkling some salt on the wound, “Norvell sucks, but FSU can’t afford to fire him. (laughing emojis).” “Oh No!!!!!! Not Frosty Snowman University.” a fan came up with a new name for Florida State University.
So, now can Mike Norvell turn up the heat on the scoreboard in 2025 and outshine Tallahassee’s summer swelter? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
