2 Florida teams. Both have been an absolute disgrace. But the funny part? Somehow Billy Napier and the Gators have managed to make Mike Norvell and Co. look like dollar-store ripoffs. After 3 back-to-back losses at the start of the season, it felt like Mike Norvell would finally manage to bring back the spark after the California win, but NOPE. Another 3 losses were served on a porcelain plate.
So, color us surprise that FSU right now stands on the bottom of every list made out there. CBS Sports took to their Instagram account to launch a reality check towards Norvell and Co. “Of the 134 FBS teams this year, only 1 has yet to score more than 21 points,” CBS mentioned in their post. Not in a single game through the entire month has FSU managed to move past 21 points. The only game where they did have 21 points and almost had a shot at making more was against Georgia Tech, but they lost that as well.

This falloff into irrelevance has to be studied, man. This would mark the first time since 1975 that FSU has grabbed such a bad start. One of the major lacking areas where Norvell really needs to focus on is the defensive line. The Seminoles’ defense has been dreadful.

Allowing over 300 yards on average in every single game and with at least 25 points allowed. This has landed the D-line at 75th rank in the entire country. And the problems do not stop there. If we look at the offense, it feels like FSU and Norvell are yet to identify their future QB. Norvell got $10 million in his pocket, but what’s the outcome?
Norvell’s QB depth has got Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek and both of them have been horrendous. It is hilarious to see someone as experienced as Glenn barely managing to go past the 350-yard mark. And no, I’m not talking about a single game. He collected 338 yards with 2 touchdowns in THREE GAMES. They ain’t making it to the playoffs and they probably also not gonna crack it for the Bowl games. The only thing left for Norvell to do now is figure out how he is gonna save his job and bring back the Florida State spirit in the next season.

The Seminoles are done for. If you are a fan and thought maybe with a few more games left on the schedule, Norvell can crack it into the Bowl games, then you are dead wrong. FSU is going up against the Hurricanes this weekend and there is no way in heaven or hell that Norvell is pulling a win or even a close game.
However, Mike Norvell still has a shot at redeeming himself. The staff needs to be switched up. Going into the 2025 season, if Norvell manages to hold his job, then he has to go clean house mode for the entire staff. Both the offense and defense have to be revamped, and Norvell also has to focus on finding who his quarterback would be. This entire identity crisis with the offensive line is holding back the team, and both Glenn and Kromenhoek feel so out of place on that turf. Let us know if you think Mike Norvell can bring back the old Seminoles spirit.
