Is Carson Beck's slump due to pressure, or is the 'Cavinder curse' just a convenient scapegoat?

Okay, so what is even going on with Carson Beck? See, in the last 4 games the Bulldogs had, the one against the Vols is probably the only outlier. The rest against the Gators, Longhorns, and Ole Miss point toward a very concerning direction for Carson Beck. Why? Well, this was the same guy who was averaging at least 300+ yards in every single game, and then suddenly, he fell off. The lack of presence from the pocket and the continued bad throws were quite visible from the Texas game itself. Beck threw 3 interceptions with zero touchdowns to balance it out. Keep in mind, this guy was once at the top of the list for the Heisman race. So, what is happening?

That is what the fans have been asking as well for a long time and you know how the internet works. If they can’t find the source, they will make up their own and that is how the entire “Cavinder curse” was born. Back on TikTok, Beck’s girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, made a joke video with the caption, “Listen up, the Cavinder curse isn’t real & needs to stop.” And well, the fans were not having it. See, this entire backlash for dating Hanna began way back in July. We had covered before how the internet called out Beck for his alleged “distractions” and how dating Cavinder would stop him from becoming a top 5 Draft pick.

The hate mob started picking up more space after Hanna posted a picture of her and Beck with the caption, “QB is a QT”. People were quick to point out that ever since that post went live, Beck managed to throw 5 total interceptions in the next 2 games, along with zero touchdowns.

See, let’s be real. Blaming his girlfriend for his downfall is weird and regressive. Whatever spot Beck is in right now, it is all because of whatever HE is doing. The thrashing the Dawgs got during the Rebels showdown should be the perfect reality check for the QB and Kirby Smart.

And another factor to keep in mind is that there is a distinct possibility that Beck is often too overwhelmed. See, this was the same guy who was known for his ability to survive in the pockets and make amazing plays. This season? He has almost as many interceptions as touchdowns, and that does not point to anything good. Regardless, let us dive into what fans were saying in the comment section of Hanna’s video.

Blaming the Dawgs QB’s girlfriend

“Nah the curse is real. Refs were bailing Georgia out so hard so that the media wouldn’t flame you for the reason that Carson Beck is doing bad,” was what the first person pointed out. This entire “we blame you” thing feels like a joke at this point. You surely are not blaming the girlfriend because your QB is incompetent, right?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Carson Beck's slump due to pressure, or is the 'Cavinder curse' just a convenient scapegoat?

Have an interesting take?

Another fan pointed out, “He a bust just like your jumpshot avg 8 points pg lmao.” This fall into mediocrity needs to be studied. Just last season, Beck had around 22 touchdowns with only 10 interceptions. Right now, he is speed-running more interceptions (12 total) than touchdowns (19 total).

One fan mentioned, “We still blame you.” This fixes nothing. What Beck and Smart need to focus on is building the throws and the overall Georgia offense. At this point, it is extremely one-dimensional and is not doing anyone any favors. Sharing the same emotion, another fan mentioned, “Leave him alone.”

Finally, two final fans requested Hanna to watch the games from home. One of them wrote, “Please keep watching from home” and the other mentioned, “Stay at home for all the games please 🙏.” Let’s hope this entire “hating on the S/O” thing dies down soon enough because this is not a good look for a fanbase.
