When it comes to competition for the very best prospects in college football, the war is on all the time. As the 2025 NFL draft approaches, the NFL teams are on the lookout for future talent, and where best to spot that talent other than on the field. The NFL scouts got an opportunity to get an in-person view of college football stars at the Georgia vs Clemson game.
Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles, fresh from selecting Caleb Williams with the no. 1 pick in this year’s draft, was also in attendance. This was on random choice. The last person he would look at would be Carson Beck, the Georgia QB making waves for the NFL Draft next year. After securing the quarterback position for the future, Ryan Poles is on the lookout to strengthen the team further. His focus during the Georgia vs. Clemson was likely to be on the defensive end.

While we could make a broad guess on who the players that Poles must have looked at, we are unlikely to zero it down to the exact player. And for that reason, we can have a list. A number of players in this list must feature from the No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 College Football rankings. Georgia is always flooded with talent, and HC Kirby Smart made sure that 2024 is also the same. So, who are these players?
Players that Ryan Poles can do with in Chicago
From the Bulldogs, it starts with Mykel Williams, a high-flying athlete who is among the prospects for a top-10 pick next year. Then, there is Malaki Starks, a versatile safety who can do it all. What do you need? Well, Starks has physicality, size, speed, instincts, range- everything. We are not even halfway there.

Georgia’s defense has stars as well. Jalon Walker is among those stars. As an edge rusher, his explosive speed off the ball is enough for offenses to have a strong look at him. On the offensive side of things, Blake Miller, as a right tackle, can benefit not just the Bears but even other teams that are looking to boost their O-line. Two other players that may have interested Poles are Dylan Fairchild and Trevor Etienne.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Carson Beck really the better choice for the Bears over Shedeur Sanders? What do you think?
