The Hurricane stemming from southern Florida transpired into nothing more than a passing breeze in the grand scheme of the CFB season. Miami’s missteps down the stretch had major repercussions. Losing 2 of their last 3 games meant the powers that be kept them out of the playoffs. Naturally, their star QB Cam Ward does not concur with the CFP committee’s decree.

For large parts of the season, Miami seemingly had one foot through the proverbial door. They stood at a cool 9-0. The record was perhaps not a fair reflection of their traversal through the season, which consisted of a multitude of sensational comebacks. This unsustainability caught up to them eventually. Loses to Georgia Tech and Syracuse ensued, and their season ended unceremoniously. Yet, Cam Ward is convinced his team deserved a playoff berth after all.

Cam virtually joined SportsCenter on Saturday, ahead of his imminent appearance at the Heisman ceremony. “You’ve had a little bit of time to process the committee leaving the Canes out of the playoffs. What have the emotions been like for you in the week since then?” he was asked. Cam replied in a manner befitting of a future franchise QB in the NFL- diplomatic but exuding immense self-confidence.

“I’m really over it at this point. Can’t go back in the past and control anything,” he said. Cam Ward proceeded to lay forward his claim for why Miami’s exclusion is fallacious. “At the end of the day, they left out the best quarterback in the country. They left out the best offense in the country.” While this claim may come across as hyperbolic to some factions, it’s veiled in tangible evidence.

In the lead-up to the Heisman ceremony in New York, Cam Ward received acknowledgment for his escapades this season. He has received the Davey O’Brien National QB Award. This honor is reserved for the best quarterback in the sport, so Cam’s statement is justified. Alas, Miami’s fate is set in stone. Cam Ward will don the Canes’ colors one final time at the Pop-Tarts Bowl before his ascend to the NFL. His current disposition in New York is perhaps an allegory for things to come.

NFL powerhouse will seek to keep Cam Ward stationed in the Big Apple

The New York Giants’ issues under center are well documented. Daniel Jones was initially QB1 and bestowed a franchise QB-esque contract in the not-too-distant past. He is now gone and the Giants are firmly on the lookout for a new face under center. Cam Ward may well be that guy. Giants’ scouts were present at Miami’s penultimate regular season game against Wake Forest.

Cam’s a consensus top-5 pick and the general notion is that he’ll be the 2nd QB off the board after Shedeur Sanders. The Giants are just one of a plethora of teams in the hunt for a new signal-caller. It isn’t hard to fathom that Cam’s despair over Miami’s exclusion was short-lived. He carried his weight and will now reap the rewards.

Well, the draft is still a farsighted goal… His HC, Mario Cristobal, will seek to keep him laser-focused on the task at hand. Miami faces Iowa State, another CFP absentee that came close but couldn’t quite break through. The Hurricanes and the Cyclones’ befitting clash is poised for December 28. Cam Ward has confirmed he will partake in the game. The murmurs from the big league are undying. Miami will utilize Cam’s services while they still have him at their disposal.
