Cam Newton? More like Cam-aleon Newton, the way he’s changing his colors! The former NFL quarterback for the Carolina Panthers has always been a staunch supporter of the Sanders family, including his love for the Colorado Buffaloes. Up until recently, he had brought on Shedeur Sanders to his show as well and was seen having a good interview, but now, it looks like Newton isn’t affected too much by painting the young quarterback as the “villain” of college football. He was also spotted on the field during the warmup of the Buffs against the Knights on 29th September, but with his recent take on Shedeur and Travis, the two-faced fickleness of Newton is coming into view.
On a recent episode from the ‘4th&1 with Cam Newton’ show, the host went on to highlight the narrative with which the fans usually perceive Shedeur, which isn’t too positive, whereas Travis Hunter is looked on to as the hero of the Colorado Buffaloes. Even though the quarterback has played a crucial part in all their wins, just like Hunter, the son of Deion isn’t given his due flowers due to the charisma he chooses to carry himself with, which doesn’t sit right with him.

While talking about Shedeur, Newton made a revelation by claiming that Shedeur might just be the villain and said, “I see how people talk. I hear what people say. Yeah, a lot of people don’t really like Sheduer. They like Travis but they don’t know Shedeur.” Newton further added to his opinion by comparing him to Johnny Manziel, the former quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, who was better known as Johnny Football for his knacks and phenomenal talents in college football. Interestingly enough, Johnny Manziel had his own negative criticism of Shedeur Sanders after the team’s loss against the Nebraska Cornhuskers during the start of the season.

After defeating the Cornhuskers 3 years in a row, the Buffaloes were expected to repeat their feat yet again during their 4th attempt. Unfortunately for Deion’s team, they lost by an embarrassing score of 28-10 and then later, Shedeur made a few comments that criticized his own team players.
Manziel didn’t take to this sort of negative response to one’s own teammates and called Shedeur out. He said, “If I was an O-lineman at Colorado, I’d be absolutely pissed. I mean, I really just don’t see how you do this. I don’t see how you come and throw your own guys under the bus that you’re working with. Grinding with every single week. Week in and week out.” Thus, Newton might have some truth in his take on Shedeur as a “villain” but there is no denying that Colorado wouldn’t be as successful as it is today without the young QB at the helm of it all, making those explosive passes.
