Has Kalen DeBoer bitten off more than he can chew by stepping into Saban's legendary shoes?

As the HC unfortunately the role brings a lot of attention, good and bad. Especially when you are looking after a team such as the Alabama Crimson Tide and filling the shoes left by the legend, Nick Saban. So here continues the grill of the HC Kalen DeBoer as he falls prey to social media rage, yet again. After all, the Oklahoma Sooners put an end to Crimson Tide’s feat to only single digit. Yes, that’s how low GOAT Nick Saban’s program has fallen. Does DeBoer deserve this or not we aren’t sure, but we can surely spill the tea and share the emotions of the fans here. The Sooners’ 24-3 victory over DeBoer’s army did not obviously leave any pleasant feelings with the fans.

Scoring in single digits is not something Alabama fans envisioned. Crimson Tide was thoroughly outcoached, outplayed, and outclassed in a loss on the road to the Sooners. While it might look like an act of self-sabotage by DeBoer’s squad, or maybe they just took the Norman army too lightly. Right from the beginning, their moves came off as unprepared on both sides of the ball. Their offense too had a hard time adjusting to the rival’s defense. So if fans had thought that DeBer and Co. could turn the corner in road games, especially after their rage against LSU Tigers, they were so wrong! And obviously DeBoer had to take the heat now that he is filling the shoes of the 7x National Championship winner Saban. The fans can no longer place DeBoer in the HC seat from now on as one of them stated, “The end of Kalen Deboer’s stint as HC at Bama.”

However, can DeBoer be blamed alone? Not at all. For instance, while his offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan was supposed to help him out, he did not do him any favors. Instead, he made the situation worse for Bama by consistently putting the offense in difficult situations. This is how Crimson Tide was on the wrong end of a chaotic day. But fans being fans, they are in no way willing to accept that this puts an end to Alabama’s College Football Playoff race and pins the downfall on the HC.

Fans’ patience wearing thin with their debut HC Kalen DeBoer

Yes, losses are okay but issues have been a bit sensitive this time. First things first, it was about their Playoff expectations. Also now that Alabama drops to 8-3 in DeBoer’s debut season, this is the first that the Crimson Tide has more than two losses in a single season since 2010. Even though Team Reporter Brody Smoott highlighted in the past how it is unjust to attack DeBoer, fans are hardly ready to be easy with their debut HC. Instead, one of them had dished out an open ultimatum, “Kalen Deboer get your f- -king team ready to play on the road or get the f- -k out of Tuscaloosa.”

For Alabama who had already planned grand things for their HC seeing their pace so far will now have to tone down their celebrations as another fan commented, “Kalen DeBoer could have had a statue on Lake Washington and instead they’ll have his head on a pike in Mobile.” When fans expected Team Alabama to rain touchdowns, they got crestfallen witnessing the Saban effect absent in the roster, “Dear Kalen deboer when your best play of the night is by your punt team, you s- -k, none of Nick Saban players like you.”

Another fan too is expecting a nasty consequence that the HC might have to pay after the Sooners loss, “They about to burn Kalen DeBoer house down.” A disgusted fan now questions his fitness to be taking up the GOAT’s seat, “Kalen DeBoer is not fit to be an SEC coach. There, I said it.” That’s how Kalen DeBoer’s first year hits a flat line.
