Is Nebraska football cursed, or is Matt Rhule simply out of his depth?

A crowd of 87,453 people sitting at Memorial Stadium watched Nebraska fall 20-27 against UCLA. For UCLA, it was their second consecutive victory. But what went wrong with the Cornhuskers? the two big reasons behind their fall were two interceptions during the second half that turned into a pick-six by Kain Medrano and a Kaylin Moore interception towards the end of the game with 29 seconds left to seal the deal for UCLA. “We’re just excited to be able to get a victory in a hostile environment like this,” said UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster after a remarkable win over Matt Rhule‘s team. Their recent loss in the 2024 season has drawn criticism from college football analyst Brandon Walker.

A short video shared by Unnecessary Roughness features College football host Brandon Walker, who didn’t mince his words, lashing out at Matt Rhule after Nebraska’s heartbreaking loss to UCLA. “UCLA 27 Nebraska 20. Nebraska football is a god damn joke. They got to five wins last year and they lost four in a row end of the season. They don’t go to bowl; they get to five wins this year. They’ve now lost three in a row, maybe four in a row this year.”

Walker added, “They can not finish if it’s a close game; that team, that school, that university is a bunch of cowards that can’t finish. They’re going to lose a close game every single time. I don’t know what it is about Nebraska football, but they got to find it, dig it up, apologize to it, and bury it again because something has cursed that program. Well, Nebraska fans are probably being patient with Rhule they’re saying let’s give him time. Give him time.”

After this game, the Huskers are now at 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the Big Ten; on the other hand, UCLA went up to 3-5 and 2-4 in the conference. Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola was below par during the game, completing 14 of 27 passes for 177 yards.

Given all that, Brandon Walker is not happy with what Matt Rhule is doing this year. Although Nebraska was making waves for the first few weeks, their ship has been sinking since the past three games. However, Matt Rhule is not going to settle with their poor offensive line for the rest of the season. Rhule has made a bold move to make some changes to the offensive staff at the Cornhuskers.

Who has Matt Rhule chosen as the new offensive coordinator for the Cornhuskers?

ESPN’s Pete Thamel announced on Tuesday Nebraska’s plan to appoint a new offensive consultant, Dana Holgorsen, who will closely monitor Cornhusker’s offensive line, and he’ll aim to improve the team ahead of the last few weeks of college football season.

He’s worked over the years with a slew of top college quarterbacks as a coach and coordinator—Graham Harrell, Case Keenum, Brandon Weeden, Geno Smith, and Will Grier. Holgorsen had been working with TCU this season. He arrived in Lincoln on Monday,” Pete Thamel wrote in his post.

Is Nebraska football cursed, or is Matt Rhule simply out of his depth?

Have an interesting take?

Ahead of a major game against the USC Trojans on November 16, Rhule is trying to save Nebraska’s degrading condition. Now, it seems possible with Holgorsen. Holgorsen has spent eight years being the head coach at West Virginia and set a 6141 record. Right before joining the Huskers, he worked as an analyst at TCU. Given all these measures taken by Rhule, there is a chance of seeing a revised O line and a new Nebraska in their upcoming game.
