Was Shedeur Sanders' hit a dirty play, or just part of the game? What's your take?

When they say football is a violent sport, this is what they meant. Saturday’s Colorado vs. Kansas Big 12 showdown took a wild turn when a foul play occurred. It could’ve been a grim injury for QB Shedeur Sanders when he took the hit from the Jayhawks’ defender. But what caused a major uproar among fans is the fact that there was no penalty called for the play. So they’re giving their own opinions, and they’re not pretty.

College Football Report uploaded a highlight of the hit that Shedeur Sanders received from Kansas Jayhawks’ DE Dean Miller on X on November 24, labeling it “just dirty as hell.” It added a question—“How is this not unnecessary roughness???” A disheartened fan agreed with the feedback and commented, I’d call for an ejection no lie late as hell and hit him below the knee nasty.

Colorado struggled early in the game trailing 17-0 before Shedeur Sanders picked up pace to cut the Jayhawks’ lead to 20-14 at halftime. The 22-year-old struggled throughout the first half with a lack of consistent protection, but his resilience is admirable. He went on to complete 12 of 13 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. How freakin’ tough is Shedeur Sanders?!” NFL analyst Todd McShay exclaimed after the incident. But hey, we’re talking about a QB who stood strong despite being sacked 52 times last year!

Following the incident, an agitated Shedeur was seen pushing a referee as a scuffle erupted between the two teams. Commentator Mike Pereira said, “In the chaos, the officials don’t see it. But he’s lucky that he wasn’t ejected from the game.” But for fans, the call for ejection should have been on Dean Miller.

It didn’t take long for fans to chime in with their opinions. One person remarked, I would 100% suspend my own player if he did some s— like this. #Uncalled_for.” Perhaps HC Lance Leipold has something prepared for Miller.

Another fan voiced their displeasure over the Jayhawks’ defensive player. They wrote, “This was indeed a dirty play.. the dude went Straight for [Shedeur] knees.” The high-impact hit knocked the 6’2, 200-pounder off his feet as he landed hard on his back.

Another person feels that such actions shouldn’t be overlooked. They commented, This should be penalized just as harshly as targeting.” But despite the fall, Shedeur Sanders didn’t miss a play, but he took time to get off the turf.

Most fans agree on one thing. Just as this person said, “That is a dirty a– move.” What do you think? Shedeur, who’s a top NFL prospect, can’t afford to fall and derail their path to the Big 12 Championship. Can they rise above this mess with a win to even out the adversity in the game?
