Suddenly, it is all about “Prime Time”. See, Paul Finebaum was never really a Deion Sanders supporter. The dude directly called out Coach Prime as “Hollywood” and “irrelevant”. Now imagine Finebaum suddenly changing ships and praising Deion Sanders. What is even happening? A few hours back we covered how Finebaum mentioned that the Cowboys could be the perfect destination for Coach Prime. The entire analogy makes sense. Deion Sanders took a team that had NOTHING and took it to one of their best runs in the last decade. And the Cowboys, with their 3-6 season, could use that flair.
But here is the wild part. While we thought that maybe Finebaum would be the only person who would suggest this NFL switch, it looks like that won’t be the case. Stephen A Smith and Rex Ryan both join the crew in calling for Coach Prime’s “Prime Time” era in the NFL. On ESPN First Take, Smith mentioned, “Draft Shedeur Sander and by the way, hire Prime Time Deion Sanders….. That’s right, I said it.” This pick just makes sense. Jerry Jones needs a revamp in Dallas. The season-ending injury of Dak Prescott has put a nail in the coffin for the Cowboys. Even the entire Mike McCarthy coaching era has been nothing but disappointing. Getting Deion and Shedeur Sanders as a packaged deal has the potential to change the future of the Dallas Cowboys.
As Rex Ryan mentioned back on ESPN Get Up, “Deion Sanders may be in play here. They need something. They need to have somebody that has the pride in that damn organization.” Listen, Deion took a 1-11 team to 7-2. Yes, it took 2 long seasons, and yes, there were a lot of unfulfilled promises, but you cannot deny the fact that Colorado Football has changed forever.

More than anything, Deion’s time at the Buffs can be characterized by a cultural change- changing perpetual losers into winners. That’s not a factor of performances on the field. It’s about setting expectations in meetings and practices, recruiting the players that would fit into your vision and leading an overhaul of the entire program. Do the Cowboys need a culture overhaul? Hell yes! We don’t have to go far back to see why! Just look at Micah Parsons’ comments about his head coach following their Week 10 loss against the Eagles. Parsons came out in the media and said he doesn’t care about McCarthy’s future. How can any organization allow such indiscipline?
And what’s more important is the fact that Jones needs a new QB desperately. Yes, Prescott may be a good QB but he has choked every major game that has required his full focus. That, along with the massive increase in his overall contract price, already has the Cowboys fans second-guessing Prescott’s position as the starting QB. Getting Shedeur means starting on a clean slate.
You can hate the guy all you want, but you cannot disagree with the fact that this year, Shedeur has been on point. Against Baylor, it was because of Shedeur’s last moment Hail Mary that the Buffs managed to secure the win. Dude, even against Kansas State, Colorado could’ve won easily. Despite losing the entire WR depth on the turf, Shedeur pulled the team to a 28-24 lead in the 4th quarter. Right now, the NFL ain’t the only target Deion has his eyes on.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Deion Sanders the savior the Cowboys desperately need, or just another Hollywood hype?
Have an interesting take?
See, one thing the Texas Tech game proved is the fact that the overall bond shared by the boys on that turf has grown significantly. Despite trailing by 13 points in the first quarter, the offense stepped up and Shedeur managed to bring the team to 13-10 by the end of the 2nd quarter. After that? The D-line proved why they are among the best. These guys barely let Tahj Brooks run on that turf.
Every time anyone from the defense found an opening, they gunned straight for the QB. Despite taking a massive 31-20 lead over Texas Tech, the momentum DID NOT STOP. And boy, oh boy, Shilo Sanders‘ final fumble return was like adding insult to injury.

This entire performance is what gets the hope of all fans up in the air. Deion Sanders and Co. have proven that they have what it takes to keep their head in the game and make a solid return. At this point, the Huskers did them a favor with that 28-10 defeat. Next on the list are the Utes, and they shouldn’t be that hard to deal with. The only problem is going to come from the Jayhawks so we cannot wait to see what Deion Sanders does over there.
