Should Arch Manning replace Quinn Ewers as QB1 after Ewers' latest off-field blunder?

Arch Manning vs. Quinn Ewers. This has been a long drawn out debate for the Longhorns fans and there is good reason for it. Manning is someone who had barely played any football in the 2023 season, but when he got put on the turf against the Roadrunners owing to Ewers’ injury, he got in four passing touchdowns in just 9 out of 12 total passes. Many fans agree with Caroline Fenton when she said, “Even without Quinn Ewers, Texas can still win a national championship.”

Steve Sarkisian has two wonderboys under his belt and he knows it. But what about the fans? This creates a rather complicated situation for them. Here’s the thing: Last month, Mike Renner of CBS Sports raised a possibility that Ewers could find himself in the NY Giants’ $7.3 billion dynasty. “Even with Daniel Jones’ mini-resurgence the past few weeks, the Giants still need to set their sights higher at the position,” said Renner.

“Ewers has shown high-end play on the field the past two seasons when healthy. The ‘when healthy’ part is the key there, as he’s now missed time in three straight seasons. That may scare some off, but with Ewers’ tools, the risk is worth the reward.”

In fact, he is one of the QBs the team has been looking at this college season. He had a sharp start in 2024, throwing for eight touchdowns to two interceptions through the first three weeks. But Ewers’ abdominal strain paved the way for Manning to shine. So when a discussion started on X regarding the Giant’s quarterback situation, football fans were ready with their thoughts.

It was surprising to see that a major chunk of people wanted to see Manning with the Giants.

Also, QB Daniel Jones’ $160 million contract runs out in 2026 and we don’t know what is ahead for him. As of now, it looks like the team is done with him. For years, head coach Brian Daboll insisted that Jones was the ideal starter, but after their debacle against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, which also marked their straight fifth loss, Daboll seems to have changed his mind.

What’s your perspective on:

Should Arch Manning replace Quinn Ewers as QB1 after Ewers' latest off-field blunder?

Have an interesting take?

“I’d say we got a lot of work to do here in the next few days, in the next week, and we’ll evaluate where we’re at and what we need to do,” Daboll said. This opens up the perfect opportunity to bring in Manning or Ewers. But people would want to see Manning end up with the team as it is his uncle, Eli Manning’s former team.

There is another scenario. What if both Ewers and Manning get drafted by the Giants? While there are slim chances of something like this taking place, right now, what Manning desperately needs is a starting QB position. That entire injury scene for Ewers was pretty much a blessing in disguise for Manning. We do not know what the future holds, but what we do know is the fans’ choice. Here’s what fans had to say about Manning.

Arch Manning for the Giants dynasty in 2026?

Well, many X users were of the opinion that the Giants should wait for Manning.

  • “Don’t love any of the top qbs this year. Tough spot. Rather be bad next year as well for a shot at Arch Manning.”
  • “If they wait for 2026 To Draft arch manning that will be love what you think.”

Though the Texas Longhorns QB is not eligible to turn pro until the 2026 NFL draft, fans couldn’t help but speculate. In fact, Walter Football’s early 2026 NFL mock draft predicted that Arch Manning would be selected by the Giants—No. 1 overall selection. We will have to wait and watch if this comes true.

  • “I don’t like the QB’s in this draft, I’d rather trade for a one year rental starter, and pair up Hunter and Nabers. Or if we want have Hunter at corner as we need that massively too. Go get arch manning in ‘26 instead.”

Further, Athlon Sports has also predicted that the Los Angeles Rams and the New York Jets could be good teams for Manning. It looks like the QB’s draft stock will rise in the coming year. On the other hand, Ewers has been projected as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
