Quinn Ewers‘ golden era with the Texas Longhorns is wobbling—literally. Recently, after he tweaked his ankle, casting a long shadow, the once-dominant single-caller guy faces mounting questions about his future. For head coach Steve Sarkisian, the timing has never been this bad. As week 14’s SEC showdown with Texas A&M looms large, whispers of Quinn Ewers’ struggles find momentum, with critics pointing to his sloppy mobility as a glaring Achilles heel.
All that began during Texas’s recent win over Kentucky, where Wildcats defensive lineman Deone Walker accidentally hit on Ewers’ ankle. While Sarkisian is labeling his QB still “probable,” everyone knows the reality. Do you recall how a game against Georgia exposed all those flaws Ewers had been hiding so far in the season? That game clarified that a sharp defense can crush the Texas QB.

So what’s plan B? Arch manning? Yeah, the buzz does not only end with putting it on Quinn Ewers. Now, the 19-year-old Manning has re-entered the chat. Experts, analysts, and fans are already pointing out that Sarkisian should spice up things by keeping the Arch Manning option open. Manning’s dynamic style, the way he runs and reads options, and his quick passes are some of the traits this guy holds. It might be the one thing Texas is looking for right now.
With that, now an X page called Barstool Longhorn shared shocking news online, which stirred the post on Quinn Ewers’ current scenario at the Longhorns. So it says that the insiders spilled some beans on Ewers’ injury. As per them, his ankle is not recovering the way they expected it to.
During Monday’s practice, they [team] took a walk at the gridiron and discussed the upcoming game against the Aggies. While on Tuesday and Wednesday, they had some physical practice and decided it wouldn’t be too physical for Ewers during the game; although he’s getting his treatment and all, the team is still not so sure about the QB’s return for Saturday’s game.

You wouldn’t believe the crazy stuff Texas fans are saying in the comments! A man named Craig Lawrence wrote, “Catch about to be called on to be a hero. This is Quinn’s game, but you can’t play a QB with no mobility in a game like this.” He directly refused the idea of a game plan in which Ewers didn’t need mobility. Although they have been planning it like that, how can a game be won without their QB being mobile?
One more fan wrote, “A healthy Arch Manning would be better than a hobbled quinn ewers. I hope Manning took at least some first-team snaps in practice.” As he said, it’s a common emotion for the rest of the Longhorns fans as well. They watched Manning, and they have watched Ewers as well. Now fans are demanding Manning over an injured Ewers for this game.
One more guy called Dalals Horns wrote, “I don’t understand why Sark is being so stubborn with this. Play Arch and get Quinn Ewers healthy for the playoffs.” Yeah, like he said, why is Quinn Ewers’s obsession all over the head coach’s mind? Why can’t he move on from his best guy? Ewers had a great season last year, but this year isn’t going so smoothly for him. It feels like Sarkisian just keeps sticking with him for every game.

One more fan wrote, “Arch better be ready. Have a feeling we’re going to need him. Sark better not wait too long to pull him just to preserve Quinn’s feelings, either.” This one actually got a point, agree? Ewers may start the game, but if he fails to keep the game going, Sark should consider Manning and not’ let away another game just because of his admiration for his quarterback.
Last but not least, a fan wrote, “Arch, come on down, buddy. You’re up.” This guy directly declared that Arch was going to start this game. Well, we’ll see that on Saturday but we can hope Sarkisian does not take it too long to come to a decision. otherwise, they can face an ugly loss as well!
