Looks like the Cinderella story is over. See, Curt Cignetti made quite the year for the Hoosiers. Picked the team up from shambles and a 3-win season to a 10-win run in 2024. This alone gives the guy a ton of credibility, but the main question remains; what will Curt Cignetti do when he finally goes up against a good team? Yeah, this 28-7 run shows us everything we need to know. This game is the deciding factor for Curt Cignetti and Co. and their playoff dream. On a schedule that has been relatively easy, the Buckeyes were the only challenge, and it looks like the Hoosiers are just throwing away the game.

Back on X, Saturday Down South shared quite the stats from the game. “Indiana took advantage of 2 iffy PI calls to score on its opening drive. Since then? 6 plays, 8 yards (punt) 3 plays, -7 yards (fumble) 8 plays, -4 yards (downs) 3 plays, 2 yards (punt),” Saturday Down South mentioned. Well, since then, they have done nothing. Fifty passing yards for Hoosiers, and Ryan Day and his million-dollar roster have managed to bring in 4 touchdowns. Cignetti’s boys have fumbled the football once and while they have managed to make an interception as well, it didn’t result in anything good. And guess what happened next? Back on X, fans want Hoosiers off of that CFP list.

See, in the first quarter, Cignetti and Co. had some momentum with 2 amazing downs and 1 touchdown as well. After that? It has turned into a lost cause. This team has a record of 80 losses to the Buckeyes and this is the most ever losses any team has suffered to an opponent.

It looks like this record is going to continue. Day and Co. have had one strong schedule this year, and with that one single loss to the Ducks, they have been nothing but explosive, and people tend to forget that.

This, along with the Chip Kelly play calling the $21 million NIL roster, means that nothing can stop them other than probably another powerhouse program from the SEC. They got that 2nd spot on the playoff rankings just by pure skill, and if they win this showdown as well, They are going to enjoy a bye-week and head straight to the semifinals. But for Cignetti, on the other hand, well, the future does not look good.

Indiana Hoosiers grab the fraud allegations

Are the Hoosiers just another overhyped team crumbling under real pressure?

“They haven’t been able to covert a new set of downs since the Q1… the dream of them making the playoff might be over,” one fan pointed out on X. After the first quarter, the offense has done pretty much nothing. Paired against the Buckeyes’ elite D-line, it is understandable why Hoosiers can barely run the football.

“They are a fraud,” one fan mentioned. Ten wins against not-so-good teams, and when they finally go up against a good team, they are losing. Looks like another Texas Longhorns story, folks. Another fan took a light-hearted jab and mentioned, “They’re going to the Marco’s Pizza Bowl, my friends.” Well, let’s hope at least the pizza tastes good because this loss won’t.

Another fan mentioned, “Even with the help of the refs in the first half didn’t help.” Refs help or pure luck? Who knows, but one thing is for sure: the playoff dream is in danger. On this note, a fan mentioned, “They’re not making it if they lose. They have beat absolutely nobody.” Look at the Hurricanes, one loss and they are down straight to the 8th spot from their previous 1st on the CFP list. For Hoosiers? They are going down further.
