It’s all a tug of war for the No.1 overall recruit in the 2025 class, the great Bryce Underwood. The QB is already committed to the LSU Tigers and is less than a month away from signing with Brian Kelly’s program, as the early signing day is on December 4th. But it looks like Underwood is yet to hit the ‘settle’ button. And for one last time, he is keeping his doors open for the programs to approach him. On that note, CFB analyst gives the much-needed morale boost to Michigan Wolverines’ HC Sherrone Moore since he had already shown his interest in Underwood offering $10.5 million. However, it is going to be a ‘Hail Mary’ move to beat the Tigers in the race. Do you know the Wolverines committed a massive error in pursuing the QB?
While Moore must be heartbroken that the defending champions missed the playoffs, he seems to have moved on. Instead, the Wolverines HC is all set to grab a bigger prize, which is being the top-5 program in the recruiting race. And in his mission to be at No.5 from their current ranking at No.10, they now see Underwood as their biggest weapon. But it’s not going to be any smooth ride, as on the On3 Recruits podcast, analyst Steve Wiltfong and host Josh Newberg raised a warning about things weighing more on LSU’s side. The analyst points out the factors, “His best relationships with offensive coordinator Joe Sloan.”

Not just this, the list is pretty long as he “Loves the history of the quarterback position, the recent Heisman winners, the culture, the diversity, the food in LSU. He’s so comfortable in that environment; he and many family members had a fantastic official visit.” Witlfong just gave Moore a reality check but at the same time kept on pushing him for his Underwood mission. The analyst then dropped some encouraging words for the Wolverines HC: “There’s still some communication with Michigan, so we’ll see if Michigan can pull off a Hail Mary.” Yes, definitely, Moore went to great extents to woo Underwood, but don’t forget he had someone to help him in this pursuit.
Is $10.5 million enough for Sherrone Moore to win over Bryce Underwood?
The Wolverines HC wants to land the LSU commit by hook or by crook. The desperation has been so real that they even were ready to empty their pockets by offering a competitive fortune that the Tigers had shelled out for Underwood. As per the reports, Moore and Co. are all set to offer the QB a NIL package worth $10.5 million dollars. Isn’t that too bold a decision to make for the debut HC?

Is Michigan's $10.5 million offer a desperate move or a smart investment for Underwood?
Have an interesting take?
Well, definitely, but he knows he is in a position to offer that heavy fortune. All thanks to the Barstool Sports tycoon, Dave Portnoy, who has come forward to take Michigan out of the QB woes and has offered to pay $3 million. But it looks like Moore’s squad had already made a major blunder that might leave them on the back foot in the Underwood race.

As the QB himself confessed in an interview with 247Sports analyst Allen Trieu, “They [Michigan] were like going more down South to find more players instead of having what they have in their backyard, Yeah, that’s what I was confused about.” It seems like Michigan’s interest in Bryce Underwood only intensified after losing out on 4-star QB Carter Smith. They’re determined to land him, no matter the cost.
