Michigan continues hustling to resolve its persistent quarterback problem, and top five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood continues to be at the helm of their solution chart. Sherrone Moore was left in hot water for not adding quality prospects from the transfer portal this season, but he wants no more intricacy on the way. In a relentless attempt to mend all the past woes, the Michigan HC rushed to Davis Warren, Jack Tuttle, and Alex Orji, but none of them could deliver, resulting in an extremely underwhelming season so far. Now, Underwood, the highly prized LSU commit, has become the potential guardian angel for the team. But at what cost? If a completive NIL will be a deciding factor, as Samm Webb sees, Michigan won’t back off.
Samm Webb, on his podcast, rightfully slammed the Michigan naysayers who kept undermining them in the NIL game. ”Michigan is much more competitive, and what I can say unequivocally, Steve and you tell me if you have taken note of this as you in your recruiting coverage. Michigan is not an afterthought when it comes to competing with the Oregons, Alabamas, and the Georgias. They’re not automatically excluded from these recruitments by virtue of NIL anymore. Those days are over.”

Over the last few weeks, the in-state Wolverines were on a tear in putting a high-digit NIL package similar to what LSU presented to the table, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is ready to spend his $3 million while James Yoder adds one more million to it, setting the graph higher. It’s quite clear how desperate the whole Michigan CFB community is to take the teen quarterback on the board.
Underwood’s father, Jaquan, spilled back in March that he continues to grab some unbelievable offers from programs all across. But he also noted that his son is not looking out for any of it and is also actively restricting the outside visits as a testament to his firm commitment to the Tigers.
But in case he switches and accepts the Wolverines’ fat NIL offer, he will instantly become a favorite to start the season opener in 2025. It will make enough sense, but Underwood is keeping his pledge above any temptation.

Underwood even laughed off an Instagram post where Michigan’s potential flipping idea was discussed. That said, LSU officials are still taking the whole situation with a grain of salt. In the prestige battle with Michigan, they want to check in on everything early to avoid any damage.
