The Michigan Wolverines’s last season was nothing less than a wake-up call. Their major problem was their quarterback room. Sherrone Moore started his season playing Davis Warren for 3 games and suffered a loss against the Longhorns. He hurriedly gave the QB1 spot to Alex Orji and then to Jack Tuttle for 4 games. This again resulted in losses against Washington and Illinois. Davis Warren came back again but couldn’t quite perform at a world-class level. He ended his season with an injury in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Alabama. The season ended, and the QB woes remained the same until they found a solution.

The race for Bryce Underwood began for Sherrone Moore and became much more intense as the national signing day came closer. This was a 5-star rated prospect who had a perfect 100 rating on 247 Sports and a talent that could even give some of the rookie NFL quarterbacks their run for money. He was touted as a prodigy who comes maybe once in decades, and surely Michigan couldn’t miss the prospect in any way. But there was still a problem.

The talented quarterback was committed to LSU and would need a lot of pull to decommit. Well, there came Michigan’s billionaire alum and Oracle’s founder, Larry Ellison, who offered the player $12 million in NIL money, and boom. Underwood joined Michigan, leaving LSU’s long-time pursuit in waste. But, now it seems that the move was always on the mind for Bryce Underwood, and he already had Michigan blood running in his veins.

Speaking on the Rich Eisen Show’s latest episode, the quarterback recounted how he divulged the details of his commitment to Lakers’ superstar LeBron James. “I just dapped him up (LeBron James) and stuff, and we started talking and I said, ‘I just have to let you know, I go to Michigan.” The revelation must have hurt LeBron James since he himself is an Ohio State fan. But then, to put salt on his wound, Underwood said, “It’s over for Ohio State,” about his commitment. This conversation revealed in the Rich Eisen Show has got all the fans rattled up, even the neutrals.

Surely, Bryce Underwood is a talent of this generation. Standing at 6 feet 4 tall and weighing around 214 lbs, he also has the build to compete as a dual-threat quarterback. His high school (Belleville High School) proximity to his college surely would have played its part in his commitment to the Wolverines. But, can he replicate the same with Michigan that he did in high school when he produced stellar displays and bagged the AP Division 1 Player of the Year award?

Bryce Underwood becomes a laughingstock for fans

The internet is filled with comment sections and posts bashing the high-profile Michigan prodigy. Some are pointing towards his arrogance, while many are touting Ohio State’s ultimate national title win to be the proof of his denial to address the issue. One of the fans even declared a prophecy for the player and said, “This is going to be a video that haunts his 0-3 a– when he leaves s— and this dude has NEGATIVE aura lmaaoooo he instills zero fear in me 😂🤣😂🤣😂.” It’s funny that the negative auro comes from a Buckeyes’ fan. Even without that aura, Ohio State has failed to defeat the Wolverines in their last four meetings.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Michigan's $12 million gamble on Bryce Underwood just make Ohio State fans lose their minds?

Have an interesting take?

Then there was another comment that was too brutal for even Michigan fans to handle: “Michigans about to start another cheating scandal.” Well, bashing the player is one thing, but digging up the Harbaugh dirt is another level of trolling outright. I mean, technically, one can say that Sherrone Moore’s name was also involved in that scandal.

Another fan pointed to one of his game clips. “This the dude they hyping up? He just threw it into quad coverage😂😂“. Well, the video posted in the comments shows Bryce Underwood in his high school game throwing a pass to a player near the end zone who is tightly marked by 4 opposing players. Surely, the pass wasn’t completed and was intercepted ultimately. Another challenged Bryce Underwood with his brutal take. “Love the confidence, just hope it translates to the field.” Well, translating or not, Bryce Underwood has now signed a lucrative deal and most likely will start the first game against New Mexico Lobos. But, before that, the player will need to undertake hundreds of snaps during practice to fully gel in with the teammates and provide that edge.
