Bryce Underwood is the much anticipated super-prodigy quarterback of the 2025 recruitment class and doesn’t even have a day off when it comes to making headlines. But there must be something that makes his story irresistible to cover for journalists and the media. One could argue the opposite, that he’s just a kid now out of high school, and kids do not merit that kind of media coverage. And, undoubtedly there’s some truth to that, but when a kid aged 17 achieves what Bryce has just recently achieved, there will be headlines night and day.
Well, Michigan’s 2025 ace recruit shared an Instagram Story on his account by the page ‘footballforever‘ that said Underwood is the first player in the history of college football to achieve a ‘100 rating’ from On3. The post also read, “The combination of size, arm talent, and athleticism is reminiscent of players like Josh Allen and Cam Newton”. That may be precisely true, too, because with a NIL value worth $2.9 million (per On3) and a generational talent tag on his back, his journey will be reminiscent of that of legendary quarterbacks like Trevor Lawrence or Josh Allen. But let’s see why he deserves this achievement after all.

Only after talking about the player he is will his recent achievement feel momentous. Well, Underwood recently signed for Michigan Wolverines and Sherrone Moore after a prolonged recruiting war between different colleges like Alabama, LSU, and Georgia among others. That alone explains the potential he promises. Standing at 6 foot 4 and weighing 210 lbs, the boy has all the qualities to be a top quarterback in the future. And if you don’t believe that, then hear this…
During his days when he was in High school, his achievements were still making headlines, as he threw for 2,888 yards and 38 touchdowns in only his freshman year at Belleville High School, Michigan. Furthermore, he was also named MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year for his incredible performances over the course of the season. But that’s just stats, right? Many would ask what he actually brings to the Michigan Table.
First and foremost, in Underwood, Michigan will be getting a QB who is agile but also has incredible arm strength and athleticism. But, most importantly he will solve the QB problems Coach Moore had been getting throughout the season. For context, in the 2024 season, we saw Coach Moore experimenting with 3 QBs throughout the season. As, in starting 3 games Warren led the playcalling duties, then came Orji who only lasted for 2 games, which saw Moore going on to his third-choice QB Jack Tuttle who also didn’t perform as expected only to come back to Warren for his final 5 games of the season.
So, Bryce Underwood, with his exceptional promise and playmaking abilities, provides a definite solution for Moore’s QB problem. Moving on, let’s talk about his recent achievement that has made him the first player to achieve the feat. So, what’s next for Coach Moore and Underwood now?

According to various Media reports, the future is looking very bright for Underwood, who may even surpass Coach Moore if he stays true to the hype on the field too in 2025. This is because only his recruitment to Michigan saw him earning a deal worth $10 Million, which would place him amongst very few of the elite earners. Furthermore, his glamour has also spread beyond the world of football as is evident by his IG story where he posted pictures of Adidas Cleats sent by James Harden, who is one of the biggest players in Basketball right now. He captioned the story, “My guy! Appreciate you,” tagging Harden in the post.
So, does that mean we could see Underwood landing a big Adidas sponsorship deal in the future? It’s possible, yes! But, for now, it seems the boy is basking in his newfound stardom. As for Coach Moore, he’s achieving great success in his Michigan camp…
Well, Michigan didn’t have the best of starts to the season when they lost to Texas State in September and later to Illinois and Washington in October. However, Coach Moore turned those setbacks around with a crucial rivalry win against OSU in November and Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl. And, while the season was not up to the ‘Harbaugh’ standards, still, Coach Moore can still be given some leeway in his first season. Now that Michigan has found its rhythm under Coach Moore, he is also having a recruitment dream in his 2025 recruitment class. He not only landed Bryce Underwood, but other prospects promise a lot, too.

For instance, Andrew Babola, the 5-star-rated OT, is ranked number 2 overall in OT position in the country in the 2025 class. Furthermore, with 4-star prospects like Shamari Earls (CB), Andrew Marsh (WR), and Nathaniel Boateng (LB), Michigan will be getting a Squad that far outweighs their exploits in the 2024 season. Moore’s recruiting class is currently ranked at No. 8 overall in the country. Which in itself is a big feat in Moore’s first postseason after a full season. Also, with the arrival of Chip Lindsey, their new offensive coordinator, they will have a new rhythm to their offense, and Bryce Underwood will play a huge role in that.
