The curtains are down for the 2024 season. Now the 2025 NFL Draft discussions have gained momentum. Now if there is someone else who is reigning the headlines other than Shedeur Sanders, it’s Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe. Is he worth all the hype? Definitely. After all, he has been recruited by the GOAT, Nick Saban. Can anyone doubt the 7x National Championship winner’s recruiting skills? NEVER! Right now, for Milroe there are two suitors.

The Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, in Browns, he has someone he has old connections with. That’s none other than the newly appointed offensive coordinator, Tommy Rees. The coach has already gone head over heels for Milroe.

Well, Alabama fans have already started to dream big for Milroe. After all, the program had a pipeline of quarterbacks who went to NFL Giants. For example, Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts have come up with flying colors in the NFL. Meanwhile, throughout the 2024 season, Milroe has shown enough evidence of his athletic skills to let the NFL spotlight fall upon him. Do you remember his highlight feat against Georgia in week 5?

He had shown vast signs of improvement in the passing game, bringing home a big win. Since then he has been hailed as a good pick. Out of the NFL programs, if anyone is in dire need of a quarterback, it’s the Cleveland Browns. Thanks to their QB Deshaun Watson and his long history with injuries. Looks like the Browns already have their eyes on Milroe.

Is that because of Rees having a soft corner for the Crimson Tide? After all, he served as the OC and the quarterback coach in Alabama under Saban in 2023. Well, we don’t know the reason behind the favoritism towards Milroe. What we know is the fact that according to Rees, Milroe has already won his heart.

As Browns insider Daniel Oyefusi tweeted on January 22, “Rees was asked about former Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, whom he coached as his OC, and what he knows about him.” His response? “I have a lot of love for Jalen, a lot of respect. … that’s a great relationship there, but I’m not really going to expand on anybody in the draft right now.”

What’s your perspective on:

Will Tommy Rees' connection with Jalen Milroe give the Browns an edge in the draft?

Have an interesting take?

So, now it’s clear that even if the Browns plan to acquire Milroe, Rees must remain discreet. Looks like he is doing his part well. The OC further added to the intrigue, doubling down on the specific skill that he thinks helps Milroe stand out. “I’ve always started with the ability to make decisions, make the right decisions,” the coach sounded confident.

Now Milroe getting ‘love’ is not uncommon. Interestingly, the Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten themselves into the competition of ‘who loves Milroe more.’

The big fight for Jalen Milroe

On January 23,  Touchdown Alabama Magazine shared some updates on the probability of Milroe’s fate with the Steelers. As the Pittsburgh insider Andrew Fillipino tweeted, “There are Steelers scouts who ‘love’ Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe. Believe he’s a 1st round talent. And potential franchise quarterback. Mike Tomlin will see him next week at the Senior Bowl. Stay tuned.”

The Steelers are at a bit of a crossroads at the quarterback position right now. However, they don’t seem to be sold on their players, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. So, will the Steelers finally seal the deal with Milroe?

Chances reign supreme, as even though Cleveland needs a franchise quarterback, they might opt to use their first-round pick by catering to other needs. And here the Colorado Buffaloes dual-threat Travis Hunter might rain on Milroe’s chances to land with the Browns. Chad Johnson tried to put down the blinds from the eyes of the people who are still dreaming about the Milroe x Cleveland collab.

“No sir and that’s no disrespect to him…I can see early second I can see that now, now that I can see, but passing up on Travis Hunter..no,” the NFL legend came up with a reality check on the Nightcap podcast. Johnson thinks that it’s hard for the Browns to resist Travis Hunter, who is likely to bring back the Jim Brown era. Can Tommy Rees sell Jalen Milroe to Cleveland and pave the way forward?
