Quarterbacks in college football come and go, but they don’t really make them like Jamie Winston anymore. The player had won everything possible from his 2013 Heisman Trophy to Davey O’Brien Award to the Manning Award. He was the major reason why the Seminoles went on to win the BCS National Championship in the 2013 season. His brother also is aiming to follow in his footsteps.

Jamies’s brother Jonah Winston is slated to make his debut in the 2026 class and is being pursued by several colleges. Playing as a WR position he stands at 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighs around 153 lbs. That makes it immensely athletic and explosive to execute those cutting runs through defense. He also sometimes lines up for snaps and makes those jet sweep runs in behind the defense. So far, he has received offers from 9 teams and has decided to visit two of them…

The major colleges giving him the offer are Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M. Amongst these 5 colleges he has decided to visit Auburn and Florida State in the near future. These two programs are mostly in the player’s mind although he has also planned to keep his options open to explore the likes of UAB, Missouri, and Georgia State.

The decision to visit Noles certainly looks to have been inspired by his brother’s legendary status at the college. Furthermore, his admiration and childhood connection to the college will certainly play a major role. That eventually will have a bigger bearing than other programs on his decision. He hinted at something, too, in a recent interview.

The one thing that makes FSU more unique than the other schools is I basically grew up at FSU, That’s where the game really started for me”. Winston said in a recent interview with Warchant. He also hinted at the possibility that so far, only a handful of schools have appealed to him, and amongst them, only FSU, Auburn, UCF, and Ole Miss were the ones he had been looking forward to. But why is the player so special?

Jonah Winston finally going to FSU?

Well, the player is rated as a 3 star on major rating agencies like On3 and 247 Sports. Still, he is ranked 419th overall prospect in the 2026 class and ranks 62nd in his position playing as WR. In the state of Alabama, where he comes from, he is the 18th-ranked overall recruit. But, his rank doesn’t fully do justice to his skills. That is because when you watch his scouting tapes, he looks like a very decent prospect that teams can definitely capitalize on. Don’t believe it? Well, hear this.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Jonah Winston live up to his brother Jamie's legacy, or carve his own path?

Have an interesting take?

In his last season at Hoover High School, he led his team in the number of receptions executed. Furthermore, his 38 catches for 542 yards and 5 TDs definitely make him a quite decent prospect. Apart from that he did have his unofficial visits in 2023 and 2022 to different colleges. But he visited the Seminoles mostly (3 times). So, it may seem FSU is quite close to his heart. That being said. the player still has a few aspects he can improve on and he has got a year to do just that. People can definitely see an improvement in his rankings in the near future.
