Is Arch Manning the next big thing in football, thanks to his legendary grandfather's genes?

The college football scene and fans were excited after a spectacular display of skills by Arch Manning while playing for Texas; his brilliant debut. Manning, the highly-touted redshirt freshman, was solid, though he did throw a TD on his first pass, a 19-yard scoring strike to DeAndre Moore. However, that is not the end of it. He proceeded to throw a 67-yard passing touchdown run, which was the longest-ever run for a Texas quarterback since Vince Young. Manning did not take time to warm up by making explosive plays which made his team set the pace, and few could stop talking about it.

The real cause for the increased chat was based on Manning’s excellent stats and the note that he offers the field an excellent blend of skills that are not often seen. Thus, as Shannon Sharpe, the ex-player of the Denver Broncos, claims, Manning has a feeling that neither Peyton Manning nor Eli Manning had. Sharpe emphasized Manning’s dual-threat capability, pointing out that he showcased speed that his uncles lacked.  “He’s got that from his grandpa because Archie could run. Archie could run, no, no, he could run,” Sharpe mentioned straight link to the talent of the grandfather Archie Manning.

Archie Manning was able to impart a lot to his grandson simply confirms the fact that football is in Manning’s blood. While Peyton and Eli are renowned for their pocket presence and football IQ, Arch presents a new dimension in the quarterback position as a dual-threat passer whose main weapon is his arm and legs. This setup of skills makes him a different entity from his uncles, who could be considered pocket-bound quarterbacks. However, the uncles would hardly complain as they both are double Super Bowl winners.

Arch Manning: a new Manning era begins

Arch Manning is looking to add to his family’s already rich history. Whereas his uncles think the game is through the head, Arch has the body that can make plays with the team’s offense which is not common with the Manning heritage. This could alter the traditional role of a quarterback as it would be a player with both the traditional skill set and the versatility of the modern player.

Arch Manning’s impressive early stats showcase his potential: he’s thrown for 318 yards and 5 touchdowns with no interceptions, boasting a stellar QBR of 99.7. In the game against UTSA on the 14th of September, where the Longhorns thrashed the opponent with a 56-7 score, Manning passed for 223 yards with 2 touchdowns, proving himself to be a good leader on the field. This, along with a high score in previous games against Colorado State and Michigan, shows that he has fit well into the team. The future is bright for the young Manning, and he couldn’t have landed in a better spot. Texas is flying, and that will sure help Manning’s fortunes.
