The Florida Gators achieved their most significant victory of the season with the latest 27-16 win against the LSU Tigers. This win has not only given Billy Napier a 5-5 record and a glimmer of hope but also suggests that he may not be one of the worst coaches leading a program this season. However, this loss does not bode well for Brian Kelly and the Tigers, as their performance and execution are now being called into question. It is understandable that losing to an unranked team would have its own setbacks.
Following the notion, on the November 18th episode of The Ruffino & Joe Show, ‘Weekly College Football’ show host Blake Ruffino pointed out that LSU’s poor performance made even DJ Lagway’s average game look impressive. “I don’t really have a finite fully cooked take with that, but the plays that kid makes are just ridiculous. He is one of the most gifted quarterbacks that I have seen in a very long time stepping in as a true freshman. Here’s the thing, though, man. I’m with you. Florida fans are going to kill me on this. He didn’t play a great game. Everybody’s anointing him for an accomplishment that quite honestly was subpar,” he said. DJ Lagway is one of the key strengths of the Gators offense, but it turns out his mediocre performance shined against LSU because they were really bad.
Moreover, the most stunning moment of the game was when DJ Lagway connected with Florida Gators star wide receiver Elijhah Badger for a 36-yard-long pass and completed the pass, which was one of the key moments of the game. Now that Lagway made his big anticipated comeback, let’s see what new hope he gave to Billy Napier and the team.

DJ Lagway gives hope to Billy Napier
Well, DJ Lagway came at the time when the Florida Gators needed their quarterback the most. By losing five games in the season, Billy Napier was already in a tough spot with his tenure with the team, and with each losing game, the pressure was increasing a lot. However, their recent win against the Tigers at least gave him a ray of hope, as the Gators are finally one game closer to a bowl bid, and this was only possible because of DJ Lagway’s exceptional performance in the game.
This victory came just two weeks after Florida Gators athletic director Scott Stricklin gave Billy Napier a benefit of doubt and confirmed his presence with the team next year. Many didn’t perceive well the idea of Billy Napier’s return to the team, but DJ Lagway showcased immense trust in Napier’s coaching style and techniques and also revealed their future plans for the team, saying, “‘We’re going to change this place, and we’re going to make it what it used to be.”
DJ Lagway has been a game-changer for Florida, both on and off the field. Now that he’s healthy, the Gators have a chance to finish the season strong and build momentum for next year. But with only two games left, can they secure a bowl bid?
