Can John Emery Jr. bounce back from his second ACL injury, or is his career over?

Looks like the LSU Tigers are on a rough patch in terms of their team alignment after they opened their college football season against the USC Trojans. The team is still recovering from their heart-wrenching loss. Some reports say John Emery Jr. might not continue playing the season. Given the present circumstances, even his fans are concerned about his future being at risk. But what happened to him?

Before getting into that, let’s know more about his gameplay. John came as a 5-star recruit to the Tigers. Emery recorded 223 carries, 1,123 rushing yards, and 14 touchdowns throughout his time at LSU. His peak season occurred in 2022 when he ran for 375 yards on 76 carries and scored six touchdowns. Emery was the only one from the LSU team who remained undefeated and won the national championship in 2019. Now let’s get to the main point.

There were speculations about Tigers star RB John Emery Jr. missing the rest of the season because of a torn ACL, but today On3Sports took to Twitter to confirm the news saying “LSU RB John Emery will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, @whalexander_reports🙏”. John’s exit could be a major loss for the team’s offense. The news is so hard to believe that even fans can’t come to terms with it “Breaks my heart,” they said. John’s departure will be putting a lot of pressure on the LSU Tigers for their upcoming matches.

John Emery Jr. also faced health concerns back in the year 2023, where he suffered from a ligament tear on his right knee. Last season he was spending most of his offseason recovering from his ACL tear. Following this he only played 7 games last season. John’s comeback was seen as a glimmer of hope for the team’s struggling offensive line, but sadly, he won’t be playing for the rest of the season. The fact that he won’t be there to showcase his exceptional gameplay anymore is hard for fans to accept.

Have an interesting take?

A fan took to Twitter to share their sadness with the whole incident “Dang. Prayers for him to have a good recovery”. Well, it’s hard on him more than anyone. His fate has always come in the way of his success back in 2021. He missed his season for academic reasons. Then a series of injuries started hampering his gameplay. “Feel awful for this guy. He is an LSU Tiger for life, praying for a speedy recovery. One of my favorite players (even though he dominated Auburn).” That’s true he was a loyal Tiger, withdrawing his name from the transfer portal is not everyone’s cup of tea.

His unexpected departure from the show has left everyone shocked and unsettled. “So unfortunate. Wish him a speedy recovery,” they said. Another fan added to the same thing by saying, “Not again man this dude missed the entire 23 due to injury, here he goes again. Damn Emery!!” Last season, he could only run for 121 yards with 23 plays because of his knee injury, and unfortunately, the same thing happened again this season. Nevertheless, he managed to accumulate his rushing yards during the 27-20 defeat this season. Hopefully, he will come back with a spectacular performance, leaving a long-lasting impact on the history of College Football.
