Colorado Buffaloes and Deion Sanders are flourishing, not only from the performance end but also from the financial end. The buffs have been on a tear following their two consecutive wins against Cincinnati and Texas Raid. They fought the mid-season stale against Kansas State and dealt with a lot of questions and doubts regarding Travis Hunter’s injury setback. However, the Buffs know how to bounce back and silence all the naysayers. Sitting at 7-2 and currently second in the Big 12 standings, Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffs are heavily stirring the College Football Playoff conversation. Although they have a very tight path to CFP, having no room for error after their two big losses, they seem to be ready. But before gearing up for that, the iconic father-son (Deion Sanders-Shedeur Sanders) duo served us some hilarious food for thought.
Colorado’s Week 11 victory over Texas Tech not only just gave Sanders a much-needed spot in the AP Poll but also poured some heavy amount in his pocket. As Steve Berkowitz of USA suggested, the veteran head coach had his flower in the form of a lump sum 100,000 bonus for the 41-27 storm. On October 26, after a blowout victory against the Bearcats, Coach Prime bagged up $150,000 for leading his team to the sixth regular season win and an additional $150,000 for hitting the bowl eligibility. Sounds mammoth, right? Well, Sanders’ kids (Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders) think the same. They are naturally aware of their dad’s recent surge in earnings and made it a little more spicy, asking for their share.

“I heard you get like an extra $100,000 per win. Where mine at?” Shedeur Sanders, the Heisman frontrunner, directly sought an answer from his father while traveling with the team. Relax! There is nothing to frown on in their relationship dynamic, as it’s all about the crazy lighthearted bond they share. The Sanders household is well-versed in pulling each other’s legs in some hilarious banters, something that made their on-field chemistry stronger.
Coach Sanders is a smart father. When he found that his sons were lurking behind, he clearly denied the contract narrative, saying ‘it’s not true’. He claimed he didn’t get what they were talking about.
There are many more instances of the rib-ticking Shedeur Sanders-Deion Sanders moment. The Pro Football Hall of Fame once playfully roasted his son for his outfit choice for the Sanders boys’ Parisian adventure for the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall-Winter 2024 Collection fashion show. Dad Sanders asked, ‘What are you, a trash bag?’ while Shedeur defended his puffer jacket on a long-standing teasing spree. But jokes apart, Deion Sanders, otherwise, a father with zero sugarcoat.

Coach Prime might get a lot of hate comments for promoting and practicing nepotism inside the Colorado Buffs camp, but he is the one to slam his sons first in any minor inconveniences on their part. Balancing both the roles of a father and a coach isn’t always easy for the veteran football bigwig, but he does his best not to mix it up. No matter how good Shedeur performs, Coach Dad somehow finds a way to guide him to do better. You can see it as nit-picking, but it is, for real, a dad’s strive to see his son on the top.
Earlier in the season when Shedeur Sanders dropped his best on the field against the Huskers, Coach Prime addressed a single pass error which was the goal line pick-six at Nebraska. A typical dad instinct or a minute coach’s observation? Whatever you may call it, it is how Deion Sanders with his sons.
For the other kid, Shilo Sanders, the temperament remains the same. During a media call, Shilo Sanders playfully spilled the bean on how the Dad syndrome plays out on the field.

‘‘You think you don’t get angry? You know what you say on the field, right?’ said Shilo, ‘Get off the field,’ you have the loudest voice in college football.”
