Florida QB DJ Lagway has been at the top of the headlines in week 13, but for a different reason. The elite star, who sustained an injury and missed out on most of the last two games of the Gators, made an unfathomable comeback in Gainesville. When the Gators got sick of taking the flakes following their third consecutive losses, Lagway had no option but to lace up his boots to deliver the best. But the way he did it made all the talking. Lagway’s 36-yard connection to Elijhaa Badger was a head-turner, culminating in the Gators having the upper hand over the Tigers in the fourth quarter. You must have felt just short of words to utter a single word for this 19-year-old beauty. But wait, will a ‘Florida’s Jalen Milroe’ tag do justice to his supremacy?
After being carried off in the middle of the Georgia game with a grave hamstring injury, Lagway had a tumultuous time. He had to heal himself physically as well as get mental health right at the spot to suit the many expectations on his shoulders. But the man doesn’t know how to sell short. He came and let the score fly high, giving a go-ahead push to Ja’Kobi. Coach Napier watched in silence and could only murmur, ‘‘God blessed the young man!”. But David Pollack had something more to describe his quintessential feat. The treasured CFB analyst sees him in the light of the prized Alabama QB Jalen Milroe. ‘‘DJ Lagway is Jalen Milroe, he’s not Jalen Milroe the runner, because he’s not that guy. He’s absolutely Jalen Milroe the passer, Elite bombs, elite arm talent, big play machine.” Pollack made the lofty remark.

Giving Ole Miss a prior warning of Lagway’s stormy passing attacks, Pollack continued, ”Interesting to watch Ole Miss. His pass rush is really really good. Like they are going to hit him, they are going to get to him.” But not only just the pass game, the Texas native’s versatility reaches beyond. ”You give him a crease down the field. This dude will deliver it. It gets there in a hurry, it is gorgeous and slick.”
But what is more intriguing is that Lagway showcased just half of his strength against LSU, delivering just as much as it was needed for collective riches. He did not live up to his personal benchmark. The reason is obvious. Lagway understood his job, which was to give the underdog Gators a much-needed push in the season. He did that. But for his restricting health, he was yet to get to his highest potential. ”He’s not athletically where he’s going to be because he is hurt.” Pollack noticed the gap in his big plays but still was in awe of his unwavering tenacity.
However, Florida, with a 100 per cent healthy Lagway or with a limiting Lagway, is a whole different bread, something Lane Kiffin knows the best. Let’s peep through the Rebels’ renewed strategy to stop DJ Lagway at Swamp this week.
Lane Kiffin seems to be in complete awe of DJ Lagway effect on Florida

DJ Lagway is phenomenal. But you would be too delusional to believe that he would alone change everything overnight for the Gators, at least for the season concerned. Florida took way too many woes under their belt to be saved at this point in time. But wait, that doesn’t mean he can’t pull spoiler into some big SEC’s projected playoff berth. He very well can. After ruining the Tigers’ stack last week, the one-man-army Lagway can bring his ill effect to the Rebels at Swamp, and Lane Kiffin will better be ready for that.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team play so differently based on a quarterback. Usually, it just affects the offense, but it looks like it’s affected the whole team. Gives their team hope.” Kiffin said in a pre-game interview regarding Florida.
While he didn’t really spill what the team will adapt to stop the run rally of the Gators, we can sense the extra precision in his comments for sure. Expect a nail-biting clash this weekend with Lagway sitting at the helm.
