4-5! Florida football programs are getting all the boos. It looks like head coach Billy Napier is not taking things seriously. After losing to the Georgia Bulldogs last week, they had no other option but to deliver. However, they left the fans disappointed for one more time. College football is in week 11. How can they perform so badly? They allowed Texas to score 42 points while failing to get on the scoreboard themselves for the majority of the game.
What can be the reason for their poor performance? Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, a former NFL player, shed light on this in the November 9 YouTube video of Nightcap. He highlighted that Billy and the staff need to pay the players better so that they can perform. “In order to have the players, you got to open up that pocket. Oh yeah, it’s a different time now. Players, the players in Florida, aren’t staying in Florida anymore. At what point they was picking between three different schools? Either you’re going to Miami or he was going to Florida State.”
A few months ago, a former University of Florida football recruit, Jaden Rashada, claimed that Florida promised him a $13.85 million deal. But he sued the head coach and university for a failed NIL deal. Yes! You heard it right. Jaden Rashada is part of one of the biggest programs, the Georgia Bulldogs, who stand at 7-2 this season.

Ocho further emphasized the need for the Florida Gators football program to invest money in players if they want good players in their team and want to compete effectively in college football. “He was going to Florida. One of the other, you’re not going to be the powerhouse you were or you used to be at what you used to do, and you’re not going to win like that. You got to open up your pocketbook. Open up your purse. I don’t know who the athletic director is out there in Gainesville, but it’s the only way, baby.”

Is that the only way? Well, this is the age of NIL. The money matters, whether one agrees or not. But that’s not it all. Players also utilize the portal to get playing time. If a player feels they’re good and are still warming the bench, they won’t hesitate for a second to move to the portal. That’s how it is. However, not every program can attract talent from the portal. Your regular four-and-five stars go to the usual suspects in Bama, Georgia, Texas and LSU. The rest can attract talent, but will it be possible without paying? Not anymore.
Billy Napier’s reaction to defeat over Texas
Is Billy Napier leaving Florida? After a disappointing season, this question is all over the media. And why not? While other head coaches are making their team proud, Billy has forced people to point fingers at him. However, let’s see how he reacted after his team lost 49-17 yesterday.

Can Florida football ever reclaim its glory days without opening up the wallet for players?

Commenting on the bad start, he mentioned, “We struggled to get anything going early… on the back end, we struggled to keep up with them… you’re not gonna win turning the ball over four times against a team like that.” Further, he backed his third starting QB for the season, Aidan, and said, “Aidan fought his tail off today. He did some good things for a guy making his first start against a really good defense… overall, just not good enough, period.”
How badly did Florida miss DJ Lagway? Unfortunately, last week, in the second quarter, he had to leave the field against Georgia because of his hamstring injury. Billy gave an update and mentioned, “He probably felt as good as he’s felt since the injury today in pregame; that’s kind of what he voiced to me, but not quite ready to risk it.” Does that mean he will be on the field next week? However, they do not have much to prove, but his presence can still make a huge difference.
