Bill Belichick has never carried simultaneous reverence from everyone in the football world. For all his success and greatness, he’s always presented reasons not to be a fan. It’s almost as if he used to revel in the hate he got from certain factions during his prime. It would be an understatement to say Bill Belichick’s coaching career, especially in New England, was marred by frequent controversy. The infamous “SpyGate” comes to mind as the epitome. Even as Belichick enters this new leg of his career and life, the 72-year-old is still not quite walking a conventional path. Look up the news and you’ll still find Bill Belichick is synonymous with controversy.
Belichick caused a stir when his exit from the Patriots coincided with him publicizing his relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson. How we’ve heard about rebounds, and Belichick sure was coming out of a 23-year marriage with the Pats. But he may have taken the next number in order too literally. The couple apparently met via pure fate on an airplane and sat adjacent to each other. Fast forward 2 years, and their relationship is going strong. Owing to Bill Belichick’s public persona, Jordon has garnered a platform and voice. Now, she’s using this platform for some good. Well, they both are. Except Belichick sort of forgot he was involved!
The football savant that Bill Belichick is, affairs in and around the gridiron always take precedence. So much so that you can tend to ramble on about the game and forget more pressing matters. When a fellow savant such as Pat McAfee gets involved on the other end of the conversation, it’s a dangerous concoction. So when Bill Belichick made an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show, as he tends to do, he “went off script” and didn’t make a crucial announcement Jordon Hudson asked him to. The announcement was pertaining to an upcoming charity event involving Belichick and organized by Jordon. Not only did she then relay the very announcement on her IG, but Jordon made sure the people knew about this oversight. I mean, Father Time catches up to everyone!

In what some will construe as a cute gesture, Jordon Hudson posted a screenshot of a text she sent Bill Belichick before the show. It consisted of all the details, and Belichick basically just needed to read the message out verbatim. Except he didn’t mention it at all! Alas, the subject matter was such that relaying these details was requisite. Here’s what Jordon ultimately wanted to announce.
“What I asked [Belichick] to say: ‘Jordon is in Maine, so she can’t deliver this message herself…Tomorrow, I will be hosting a dinner to support the victim witnesses of the incident that occurred on New Year’s Day in New Orleans. I care to give support and bring awareness to the fact that witnesses of traumatic events do not walk away untouched. They sustain emotional injuries that can be life-altering. Bill Belichick and Ryan Clark have generously donated their time to this event in which they will be taking photographs and signing autographs. This will be hosted at Vega’s Steakhouse in New Orleans tomorrow from 4-7 pm. This event will be free to attend. Capacity will be very limited.” The post also included details about how those wanting to do their part can attend/contribute. It was also meant to be a little nugget for the airwaves, where this was originally supposed to go.
“Jordon has a google form in her Instagram Bio, please fill this form out if you have interest in attending. Those with personal connections to the cause will be prioritized. Thank you very much, Happy Super Bowl Week, Also, Hi Pat.’” A great gesture by all accords. Jordon using Belichick’s translative public platform for philanthropic deeds like this will make people warm up to her dating him. All this said, let’s address the elephant in the room. What was it that Belichick was discussing that made him forget something so important?

Bill Belichick spoke with Pat McAfee about translative stuff he’s carrying forward from New England
Bill Belichick was asked, “How similar will the setup be in the building down there [in Chapel Hill] compared to what it was in Foxborough?” Turns out, it’s not as different as you’d think. Belichick doesn’t have NFL pros at his service. However he understands what it takes to be one, and that’s what the modus operandi. “Pretty similar…except it would be in Carolina blue and have the Jordan logo on it,” remarked Belichick. He proceeded to delve further into this, and away from the NOLA announcement!
“It’s funny, you know. We’ve had a couple players come through here [at UNC from] the Patriots program. They watch the workout here look and say this to the Carolina players- ‘Yup, that’s the exact same program we did!’ Same running program, same lifting program. So yeah, we’re just taking the Patriot program, what we did in New England, and bringing it here.” he said. Belichick has already begun changing the way CFB operates, both himself and around him, with his sheer presence in the sport.

One question that arises from this entire ordeal is why Jordon opted to bait Belichick out. She could’ve simply relayed the message, and nobody would’ve known any better. Is it because she thought it was cute that he forgot? Just an opportune moment to go viral? Or is it a sign of being Belichick’s one true confidante? That’s up for discourse.
