Now you know how you should not take Bill Belichick lightly. Well, ever since the ex-New England Patriots HC got into the Spygate controversy, he had been in the hot seat. Then came his personal life as haters pounced upon him for dating someone 48 years younger than him. However, Belichick has proved that he does his work too well. Right now, the North Carolina Tar Heels’ new HC has hit the road. As part of his recruiting spree, he thought of knocking on Rutgers Scarlet Knights’ door. This might have robbed HC Greg Schiano’s goodnight sleep.

Well, looks like Tar Heels’ risky move to count on Belichick is taking shape for the better. After all, the program had hit rock bottom after their former HC Mack Brown’s 6-6 regular season. So, they needed someone to flip their script. And who better than Belichick, the 8x Super Bowl winner? Right now he has only one task. To fix the players’ roster.

As of January, the Tar Heels lost 11 players to the portal. That included their offensive tackle, Jakiah Leftwich, and defensive tackle Travis Shaw among others. So, right now the 72-year-old HC is going door to door to bring in some new talent to fill the gaps.

On January 30, CBS 19 News’ Sports Director, Aniekan Okan tweeted, “Bill Belichick in Louisa County today checking out 5 ⭐️ Dyzier Carter👀.” The analyst reshared Rutgers’ 5-star phenom, WR Dyzier Carter’s tweet, where the player was spotted posing with the Tar Heels HC. The caption read, “Blessed to receive an offer from @UNCFootball thank you  @unchapelbill for taking the time to stop by the school to offer me!!! #AGTG 🙏🏽 #TarHeelNation.” If Belichick’s plan materializes, it’s going to be a big loss for Rutgers HC Schiano.

Carter’s a four-star recruit, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. He’s ranked 4th in Virginia and is the 31st-ranked receiver in the 2026 class. Back in July 2024, he decided to be in Schiano’s program. This has indeed been a big win. After all, the WR recorded 46 receptions for 1,043 yards and 14 touchdowns. Having an eye for talent, Belichick had laid his focus on the right spot! That’s how the ex-NFL HC is shattering the narratives brought against him.

Age is nothing but a number for Bill Belichick

On The Solid Verbal College Football Podcast, analyst Bruce Feldman sounded an alarm for the Tar Heels HC. He said, “North Carolina folks and Bill Belichick can talk about, like yeah, it’s going to be like an NFL model…but like enough, people. I know who are actually been doing a job for a while…it’s going to drive him [Belichick] mad.” Well, most of them thought that the whole college football recruiting episode would be too hectic for Belichick at 72.

More so when he would be competing against younger head coaches like Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin and Oregon Ducks’ Dan Lanning, who are in their 40s and 30s. But did anyone say rest? Not Belichick at least. The North Carolina HC has picked up the energy that keeps him on par in the recruiting drive. The former Patriots HC was back in New England on Thursday, January 23.

Right after signing his contract, Bill Belichick paid a visit to at least three local high schools. Yet again, he proved that age is just a number. He visited St. Sebastian’s in Dedham where he made an offer to junior offensive tackle Marky Walbridge. Later on, he landed in Westwood to visit Xaverian Brothers High School. So coaches in the area, you’ve been warned: Belichick is on the prowl!
