The empire is crumbling. The Huskers game exposed once again that when it comes down to intricacies of decision-making, Deion Sanders still has a lot to learn. The Buffs continued to play on an open offensive format, which gave the Huskers ample time to target Shedeur Sanders and lock him out. This caused the Buffs to have negative rushing yards, which only switched in the second half when Colorado’s defense finally picked up. However, the damage was already done. 28-10 was the final score, and the Buffs had to walk out with their heads hanging low. The rivalry game which every fan was waiting for ended with Deion Sanders and his staff disappointing the fans yet again.

So, as a well-deserved reward, the Buffs have now lost their 10th spot in the Big 12 Football Power Rankings. Heading into week 3, the Buffs currently stand at rank 14th. The offense managed to pull only 3 touchdowns and 8 trips to the end zone. As we mentioned before, in the second half, the Buffs finally managed to catch up to the Huskers and shut them down. This proved that the team has potential. The problem is the staff making all the wrong decisions. Another major issue that everyone managed to spot was Shedeur’s attitude on the turf. While there were still 2 mins left on the clock, Shedeur decided he had had enough and left the field early. A team wins not only because of the skills of the players but also the chemistry between them. Yes, the offensive line failed to lock in Huskers RB Dante Dowdell and QB Dylan Raiola, but Shedeur leaving the field early and then going on to bash the O-line is not the solution.

We think Matt McChesney raised the most valid point back on July 20th. McChesney stressed, “When Shedeur and Travis Hunter and Horn don’t have to do fu–ing everything every week in order to win…..It will allow him to literally do anything on the field.” If Deion had figured this out, then we wouldn’t have to witness the disaster which was the Huskers game. Shedeur, Hunter, and Jimmy Horn Jr. need the support from the O-line and the defense and McChesney pointed this out yet again back on September 3rd that the offense has to catch up and match the level on which these 3 players play. If Coach Prime fails to bring forward that chemistry, then the Buffs are doomed. While we let Deion figure things out before the Rams game, there are some new stars on the Power Ranking list.

Although Utah lost its QB Cam Rising because of an injury during the second quarter against Baylor, the team still managed to come out on top beating Baylor 23-12. Utah has managed to grab 2 wins and stand on the No.1 spot on the list. The great thing is that Cam’s injury is not serious and he will be back when the UTES go up against Oklahoma.

Coming to the No.2 spot, you gonna find the Cyclones standing tall. The team managed to defeat one of the best nationally ranked opponents, Iowa Hawkeyes, at a rough 20-19 margin. But credit where credit is due, Cyclones kicker Kyle Konrardy managed to shock all when he landed the 54-yard kick with barely 10 seconds left on the clock. Finally, the Cowboys. Currently at No.3 after losing their No.2 spot to the Cyclones, the Cowboys have had a solid start to the season. They defeated Arkansas at 39-31 and then went on to defeat SD State at 44-20. Heading into week 3, these 3 teams are gonna make a lot of noise.
