Amidst Colorado Buff’s huge playoff hope, Travis Hunter keeps adding stacks to his individual dream. The once-in-a-million two-way star of the Buffs had a tumultuous season so far. Sure, he’s great but had to endure a tough time to earn his stripes. Hunter, 21, has always been the frontrunner of the Heisman conversation unless he hit a low after getting injured during the game against Kansas State. One week off for healing plus one bye week and book! The Heisman stocks suddenly went down for the kid. The changed landscape saw Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty take the lead. But wait, Hunter left his spot only for a while. He suited up in a blockbuster game against Cincinnati and never looked back. The Heisman hope is back. But is he really locked in for the trophy? Let’s hear the Barstool sports’ Dan Katz.
Colorado is having a breakout session. Coach Sanders’ has wiped out the humiliating 4-8 season memory with his improved stewardship. On top of that, they are looking to bring the Heisman glory home after 30 years of drought. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are shouldering the expectation. While Shedeur might not be in the thick of it, Travis’s 850 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in the last nine games speak volumes. Guess what? He was even better as a cornerback. If two stormy interceptions and one forced fumble couldn’t convince you about his Heisman candidacy, your football intellect needs a shake-up. But then, the road is still narrow for the prodigy. As Dan Katz noted, ”he will be f___ed if the championship Sunday comes and Dillon Gabriel is playing, Cam Ward is playing, Ashton Jeanty is playing, and Travis Hunter is not playing. That’s the death.”

You might see it as being in a funk, but the warning makes legit sense. The hype around Hunter gets unreal, with fans literally saying things like just give him the award. There has never been a Travis Hunter’ belief added fuel to it. But if you put it against competitors like Cam Ward and Dillon Gabriel, they need to stumble in order to make things happen for Hunter.

If Miami or Oregon let one or two games slip or the concerned players produce more bumbling plays, Hunter will have a leg up. Meanwhile, Ashton Jeanty reignites his previous heat with Travis Hunter.
Ashton Jeanty keeps himself above Travis Hunter in a gentle winning claim
Hunter, out of frustration, had some coc-y comparisons between himself and Jeanty when he was benched with injury. But addressing that in another sit-down interview, Jeanty gave a classy response, saying the Colorado Buffs star is truly phenomenal. What he’s doing is unreal. He is the best player in the college football.

However, Jeanty didn’t hesitate to keep him above in the race. When asked about who will win the trophy, his confidence spoke, ”Me for sure.” It was not at all a hollow claim. The young RB keeps on stunning fans with his top-tier playmaking qualities. The Broncos sensation racked up 1,734 yards on 224 carries in the last nine games. If his team continues to run the table, a Heisman trophy for Jeanty wouldn’t be far-fetched.
On the other hand, Hunter and the other contenders also have their stat to flex, making it a complex call at the moment. Only some deciding final game performances can pick the best out of the best for the coveted honor.
