Is Steve Sarkisian risking team chemistry by juggling between Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning?

It seems the Texas Longhorns ain’t only battling the opponents in the mid-college football season, rather, there has simultaneously been an inter-team battle on the play. Yes, we are talking about the recently surged competitive edge between bona fide quarterback duo Quinn Ewars and Arch Manning. Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian stunned the CFB au-fait when he benched starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and launched Arch Manning instead during last week’s 30-15 loss to No. 2 Georgia. Ever since the question: Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning? has been a recurring concern among the fans and veterans alike. The argument only swelled up with college football analyst RJ Young providing with some food for deep thought.

Despite recording a strong season with a total of 1,101 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions, Ewers didn’t look his best during the Longhorns’ 30-15 defeat to the Bulldogs. The 21-year-old could only complete 6 of his 12 passes for just 17 yards with an interception while eating up three sacks when Sarkisian thought it would be wise to take him down. But, to his dismay, another Mr. Reliable in the bowl, Arch Manning, turned out a failed substitute as he wrapped up his time in the trenches taking a strip sack before the break. The coach continues to take flak for the move as RJ Young, on his podcast, elucidated, ‘‘One of the reasons they can’t move the football is Quinn Ewars stuck in the mud back..”

‘Now, you make an argument to me that Arch Manning is as talented a deep ball thrower as Quinn Ewars but you will not make an argument to me that Arch Manning isn’t the more athletic quarterback of the two.” the analyst added drawing a minute comparison between the two high-octane talents.

The comparison between QBs has never been a foreign practice in CFB if you look back at the chaotic parity between former Alabama QBs Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa. However, what has been happening at the Longhorns camp since Saturday night is way more complex than anything from the past chronicle.

Keeping the 6 ft 2’s exclusivity over Manning, the veteran analyst weighed in like,  ‘‘You need a solution right, so you’re gonna try it. You’re gonna throw out a guy who looks every bit like he’s gonna be the starter and every bit like he can be the starter. He’s just not as good at recognizing what he sees as Quinn Ewers. Sarkisian, however, hasn’t opted for a change in their starting quarterback so far, at least not publicly.

Quinn Ewers’ starting QB role is seemingly marked safe

There have been a lot of critical takes coming from all across the nation regarding how Sarkisian handled Ewers amidst a crisis. Former NFL star Damien Harris seemed worried about how it takes a toll on the overall team’s chemistry, the key weapon for a collective game. He is even more concerned about how it affects Ewers’ mental fortitude, particularly as he almost deemed it as the end of Quinn Ewers’ era as the starting QB. But taming the fire down, Sarkisian justified that he only allowed Quinn a bit of time to settle down and make him ready for giving further spark to the team in the up-comings.
