Taking off his shirt against the Jets before the exit kick-started a new era in football. The proverbial “king of trolling” was born and the name Antonio Brown became synonymous amongst fans as a “brazen, heartless and arrogant” player. Truly sad because this guy went from being one of the best WRs in the NFL to someone who loved throwing problematic jokes at WNBA star Caitlin Clark. You can pretty much say that Antonio Brown’s entire back-and-forth with Clark is also what pulled him back into the spotlight. But now that irrelevancy has set in once again, AB is scratching the bottom of the barrel to get another dose of internet fame. And it looks like he has found it.
Okay, so, the Irish. Marcus Freeman took a massive W after dragging Georgia out of the playoff run. However, Notre Dame was already blowing up when they decided to pull a niche trick. For the Irish, it is common to not have names on the jersey. However, for the playoffs, they decided to stick with names, and one stood out. Charles Du, a walk-on CB from Beijing, had his name on the back in full Mandarin. This quickly sent fans on X and the ND Reddit to celebrate the gesture and nod to culture and lineage.
And, well, Brown did the same. “A Legend… got an NIL deal for this kid,” Brown posted on X talking about Du. Shortly, Du took to his account to reshare that post with the caption, “Excited to announce I’ve signed an NIL deal with CTESPN & @ab84.” This was some wild twist. Brown got Du an NIL deal with CTESPN (the details of which are yet to be revealed). And here we thought Darth Vader didn’t pull favors? Looks like AB is changing his ways (kind of).

All of this is coming after calling Du a “Ch–k”. Damage control, maybe? At this point, fans have become accustomed to the fact that Brown loves throwing weird slurs. But for Du, this does open a new door. “Fact is… I’m proud of @Charlesdu_ & everything he stands for,” Brown wrote in another tweet. While he has yet to touch the gridiron. Still a walk-on, so no games started for the 2024 season.
But maybe we can see this guy in 2025? We will not exactly be surprised if Du and ND pull another Arizona State scene. Devils RB Peizhang Jackson was the first to create history when he got on the field with Mandarin on the back of his jersey.
Instead of his name, though, he had decided to stick with “Chinese people can ball, too”. Honestly? He did. Managed to become the first Chinese football player to grab a touchdown. All of this went down during the Devils vs Wildcats game when ASU blew Arizona away with a 77-point win.
His jersey is on display at the College Football Hall of Fame. We hope someday, Du will manage to achieve something similar as well. But moving on to Brown. Yeah, so, this ain’t the only “good” deed he pulled in the last few days.

Bourbon St. disaster
The New Year celebration for the heaven located in the heart of the French Quarter was a disaster. A man drove through a crowd and then proceeded to open fire, causing 15 people to pass away and 35 to get hurt.
This incident sent shockwaves throughout the nation, more so because the FBI and the White House also got involved. High levels of panic, paired with the Sugar Bowl on the horizon, are not a good combination. Regardless, things have settled down now, but for the families of the victims, this incident will forever haunt them. However, the controversial NFL star’s gesture was quite surprising and refreshing.

Brown started his GoFundMe for the families. “This has nothing to do with me and everything to do with helping the families who lost their loved ones in New Orleans,” Brown had mentioned on the website.
As of now, Brown’s movement has garnered $17k out of the $100k goal. Coming from AB, this is a big deal, and it shows that his “Twitter personality” is only there to farm engagement and likes.
